I think it's mostly for show (only some producers do it and it's much more expensive to produce that way). It is supposed to prove that it is raw, natural, unfiltered honey from one hive, I think. The crunch of beeswax is also a pleasant texture and beeswax contains some pollen and other bee by-products which are healthful - eating small amounts of pollen in honey is supposed to reduce the allergic reaction to it and so help with hayfever.
I am very dubious that it makes honey last longer. Pure honey has so much sugar in it and is quite a good antibiotic, so the shelf life in the jar is very long anyway. '5 days longer' would be a very minimal extension of what must be a year or more!

All of the above for the most part are correct.
Im some cultures the honey comb is also used in remedies and it is also quite tasty to chew on. It has a waxie gum complection to it.
It Makes the honey last up to 5 days longer than just in a jar by its self. Obviously the processed honey does not need the comb but the its not fresh honey.

to take up a lot os space in the jar, for instance if it says "12 oz" on the label, and you take the the honeycomb out, the jar isnt as ful as it was with the honeycomb still in it.
and it usually costs more than honey without the honeycomb too, where you get more honey.

Some people like to chew honeycomb. I do but I've not seen that in stores in years. The feds made them stop because it "adulterated" the honey--for gosh sakes. I'd LOVE to find some again.
And why? If it's still being done somewhere (perhaps in farmers markets, it's just a sale gimmick, nothing more than that.

Honey comb is called the bee wax, very much useful in carpentary and preparing the solution for painting over the canvas.
You get some places with honey in honey comb also. But it doesn't help you anyway if you consume. But ater squeezing honey you can reuse it by keeping the same in the Bee's wooden box.
So bee will again fill the empty comb with honey. So you have to keep these combs in a bracket in such way it can be taken out and sqeezed and keep back properly in the same place in the box.

People like to know where their food comes from, so with the honeycomb in the jar, it shows that you are getting the real deal. As for the whole"natural"thing, there is no such thing as natural honey. Honey is not a naturally occuring substance in nature. It is produced by bees, just as CocaCola is produced by humans.
