sometimes the easiest answer can be how much coffee do you drink, how old is your bed, do you tend too eat after 8pm
try changing your pillow, read a boring book before you sleep listen to classical music hopw thes help talk to Dr. about sleep aids

I have had sleeping problems for years, not insomnia, just a busy brain. I would try to sleep and just as I dozed off I would immediately start dreaming as if I was still awake. My body would be ready to sleep, and my brain was not, so I would ubruptely spring out of bed!
A doctor told me I dealt with daily stress just fine, however when I went to bed, basically my body does not know how to live without stress. Kinda like jet lag. Lunesta did the trick for me!
8 hours a night, your life dramatically changes when you are well rested. The less sleep you get, the more on edge you are, and you body will start to panic without reason. Then you will find yourself in the dr's for other health reasons, when in reality all along it was panic attacks from loss of sleep.

You might be drinking too much Caffeine during the day. you shouldn't have caffeine after 2pm. Or you could be stressing out about something which will often make you toss and turn all night! Relax!

Insomnia brought on by depression, too much caffine, working night hours, any number of things.

usually you are worried about something, talk to your doctor, you might be able to get some temporary meds to help.
