understanding, then why do they ask questions or answer questions aimed at athiests that sound unbelievingly rude and offensive, as well as very naive? I am an athiest, I am happy, and Christians/Catholics are supposed to accept me aren't they? Funny how most of those religions end up contradicting themeselves. If you are going to say that you believe in God, then why not follow his teachings "religiously" ( haha I like that one).

Not ignorant at all, nor a 'girl'. I have been around religion all my life.

Perhaps people should also do they're homework on the cabalists, they were people who believed in God before Jesus and Peter.

Irratation does not get the best of me either, I just find this topic very informative and it helps me to understand the global community.

Again, rudeness...hmmm, I am surrounded by a bunch of self-proclaimed believers who don't truly believe...And yes, I have opened a bible, and I talk the bible over quite often with my bf....he's very lored on this topic.

More interesting harmless details: I went to church...hmmmm

I do not believe in the bible, I was thrust into it's teachings from an early age. This is a topic that has been in my life for years. Athiesm vs. catholism/christianity. Plus I find religion fascinating in what it does to people culturally and psychologically. I am not a satan worshipper, and I am a quite calm and understanding person....

I think your question is a very valid one, unfortunately - and I'm a Christian. In fact, my own track record isn't perfect in that area. But just because someone claims to believe in God, doesn't mean they have the whole discipline of selfless love and unconditional acceptance down pat. Everyone has judged some one, ignored some one, spoken bad of some one, or thought ill of some one. And everyone is put on the same level when it comes to hurt feelings when this happens to them. Now, as a Christian, I do believe that God has called me to be responsible in my actions and reactions, you know, unconditional love, turn the other cheek and all that. Sometimes (more than I'd like to admit) I blow it. The worst part of that for me is that my actions reflect a negative picture of God, who isn't like that at all.

Now, it does sound as though your beef is specifically against the Christian/Catholic area of religion, and nothing to do with Muslims, Hindus, or Jewish (who are just three other people groups who believe in God(s)), so let me say this: On behalf of any god-believing person who has ever offended you, I am sorry. Please, I don't mean to be sarcastic here, I do mean it. You see, the scenario of your question will place you right with those who are "unbelievably rude and offensive, as well as naive." You will judge a person as being less than you on the sole fact that they believe god.

Hope this adds some perspective. May your life be filled with happiness.

Christians are supposed to be forgiving and loving. They should not be rude to you or anyone else. They should accept you as an individual, but that doesn't necessarily mean they should agree with what you believe. Many Christians do follow the teaching of God but there is a fine line between accepting people as humans and accepting their hollow philosophies on life. The Bible forbids entertaining belief systems that goes against the Word of God. I think a lot of the times that Athiests ask questions, the manner which they speak comes across offensive, and the Christian who answers them comes on defensive and ends up being rude. Both sides thinks that each other is out of their mind (to put it nicely). But I do apologize to you and other athiests if we come across rude and offensive.

All are sinners, and they can make mistakes. I've seen both Atheists and Christians be quite offensive to each other.

But it is true, those Christians are not following Jesus's teachings, when they are rude or offensive to you. People have to learn to debate and at the same time respect each others's beliefs.

Where does it say in the Christian Bible that you can beat woman?
Can you cite it?
You say you've been around religion all your life, but it seems like you've yet to open a bible...
I've done my homework. I don't believe in
Kabbalah or any form of Jewish mysticism.

So wheres this verse about abusing women???

I find the questions of athiests jus as naive and offensive.

Jesus said to love thy neighbour, that does not necessarily mean trust or acceptance.

I try to follow the teaching of the bible, and I follow verses like "all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" quite well. It's the other stuff I have trouble with.

I believe in God, or the Creator as I prefer to call that entity, but I do not follow any religion. Muslims and Jews and virtually all other religions believe in God as well. So it seems that your question would be better directed to Christians/Catholics and not generally to believers in God. By the way, it is precisely because religions each think they are the right one that I don't prescribe to any of them!

Self proclaimed Christians believe that 1)they go to heaven without any good turn in their life 2)all others go to hell 3)anyone who does not accept Christ is a pagan, terrorist or antichrist or satan worshipper.

Hi , Kiki-la,

They do not even follow the first commandment (Christians, Catholics), in their religion.

" Thou shalt have no Gods Before Me"...

THEY HAVE TURNED A PROPHET INTO A GOD...Jesus...

How can you expect Christians to believe or really follow any of the fantastic teachings of the bible, when they worship a MAN.
And then they wonder why God allows such injustice in the world.

I left the church and I pray to God daily I could not continue to pray to a Man, or expect my salvation to come from the belief that Jesus was the son of God and he died for my sins, and was born from immaculate conception. ( ya OK)..They remind me of the yellow dudes from the cartoon TOY STORY.. (the claw, the claw, the claw...)hahahaha!!!!!

Someday they may learn or follow the truth. that there is only one God and his name is not Jesus...

There are hippocrates in every religion you can not just blame them.... for there is also ignorance in all religious leaders.

If Atheists believe there is no God then why don't they just graciously position themselves away from Christians instead of going out of their way to attack the Christians in their life...???

why are Atheist so like the Christians/Catholics they hate and loathe Christians therefore becoming like a Christian who doesn't go to Church???

If you're an atheist, fine..I'm a Christian but I too have a problem with other Christians judging me because of my flaws. I think a true Christian should just love a person where they are at at the time. If they have Christian faith they should save their judgements and pray about it. We are not the judge of others, in my faith only God is.

Well, some people just don't understand the God they serve, or they wouldn't be rude.

Christians are to accept you and understand where you're at, but love you enough to pray for your salvation. They are not to browbeat you, but they shouldn't give up on you. Forgiveness is only needed if you offend them.

You have a good sense of humor for being irritated!
