I'd move on. I had a kitten once and one day he wasn't home. I've never seen him since and that was... well years ago. I don't remember how little I was exactly. There is hope though!
Just after New Year's, our indoor/outdoor cat went missing. This was the second time it's happened and the first time someone nabbed her. Thank God I work at a vet clinic because I saw her and told my boss that that was our cat. Turned out she picked up because my neighbor's former land lady wanted to get him in trouble for abandoning the cat she just dropped on him and nver wanted.
Anyways, we called the two vet clinics in town and asked our neighbors. No luck. She was gone about 2 weeks when my boss called and said Kitty was at the clinic. Apparently, someone picked her up and dropped her off on the other side of town! She had a collar after the first time, now we got her a tag because people won't stop messing with her.
I am very sorry to hear about your cat. Did you check any of the shelters or vet clinics (if they also house strays and lost animals) outside your area?
Oh, and was your cat old? If he was, he might have just, well, gone off and died. Not like hit, but just from old age.
Peace and Best be with you!

Hi,
Would have liked to have had a description here.....
Have you also read the "found" section of your local newspapers? Sometimes people will put an ad and will simply keep the cat if not answered, without checking the lost section...
This happene to my friend too... in the country... We think that the big owl (crying every night) may have gotten him... It's
hard to say... but you know, there are so many nice cats in need of affection. My youngest was trown out of a car on a country road with her sister...
She was barely around 7 weeks old... The car behind not too far saw the kittens an stopped.. The lady kept one, and found a good
home for the other... me... I already had 7 at the time, but she was an adorable tabby... Her name is Tiger... the most affectionate, intelligent little thing... She is now a little over 1 year old...
It also, happened that I had found a stray around my country house... I fed her and she got used to me very fast, giving kisses
and coming every day for 3 months. One time she did't show for 3 days.... Then she came back the 4th day very normally... She
asked to go out normally and then never came again... I admit
I was sad... and I already had a houseful of 7 at the time...
It's hard to say what happens... but if they go out, it's a chance to take every time...
My 2 siameses brothers (strays) ran away together through the dryer hole in the floor....(a long story)... Although well fed, and one was very close to my black male and his very best friend, they never came back again...
Your best move would possibly help and adopt another from
the shelter..., but keep looking... Who knows for sure, nature is
so unpredictible...
Good luck....

I had a cat show up after being missing for 6 weeks. I went outside every day and called her. My roommate thought I was nuts after so long, but one evening I was calling and I heard her answer. I waited and here she came! (-:
I also had another cat who took off (was scared off by a neighbors unruly dog) and I thought he'd never come back. I finally got another cat and 5 months later my old cat started coming back to visit. I think he was living with someone else down the road.
Another cat didn't come home for two weeks. Then she showed up well fed and quite healthy. A few weeks later she went missing again and then showed up weeks later in great shape. We had to move while she was gone again, but I wasn't worried that she was suffering somewhere. It was pretty obvious that someone else had adopted her and she was dividing her time between the two of us.

Don't give up on the cat. In my neighborhood this is a common occurrence. The cat just wanders off on safari for a few months then just shows up as suddenly as it disappeared. It's kind of like a headache.
Make sure there is nothing at home bugging the cat. One of my cat's had kittens, and the other adult female left for a couple of months. She just did not like the other cats' kittens. Once I placed the kittens in other homes she never left again.

there is still hope, my cuzin lost her puppy a couple months ago(she had posters, called everyone and looked everywhere) and she found out it had been shot, takin to an animal shelter, then the SPCA, then a foster home and now it has been adopted and the SPCA wont let her have it back because they say she abused it!! she would never hurt her dog. and they say that the new owner is very attached to it! she was soo mad because she had had the pup for 5 years and they wont let her have it! so now she got a lawyer and called the cops and is trying to get her puppy back!
there still is hope, so dont give up just yet!!

Give up? Never...Move on with life? It is necessary to move on...
Get another Kitty to play with...Not as a replacement, but a new friend to add to your life! Over time, you will think less about the missing kitty...The loss of a pet is hard...It is possible that someone picked it up and turned it into their HouseCat. Most people keep their cats inside instead of running loose. Good Luck!

My dogs became a domestic dog as quickly as I have been given her, so the cats have been extra desirable than she. She nonetheless thinks she's the comparable length as a cat (she's a 60+ pound retriever) and tries to sit down down on the sofa with the cats. The cats groom the proper of her head, and he or she tries to reciprocate, whether the cats do no longer like it too properly. If a dogs isn't raised around cats and vice versa, they'd no longer get alongside. yet whilst they advance used to a minimum of one yet another, they advance into rapid friends.

my country-born female cat Vikki got lost last summer, she had been absent for a week at most before, and this time we thought it was the same, about a month passed and still no Vikki, we started putting up flayers on the fifth week, and on the sixth we spotted her about five houses down, at first she didn't want to come home, but finally she came, she left, she did not get lost, we looked all over for her, and in the end she was only half a block from our house, i doubt your cat is far away from you house, look for him on abandoned sheds or hiding places, he probably left on his will, cats have their own personalities, just be perseverent and hopefully youll find him

Honestly.. yes.
Cats have a very good memory, there is little chance it is lost..
Sadly, something bad could have happened to him.
But lets not think of the worse. maybe someone found it and decided to keep it. That way you would know its safe.
