The US Constitution is the single most influential piece of literature in western culture.
It has and does influence more people than the bible. Or, any other written work.

partly for the rationalization that the subculture has switched over, and this century remains too youthful to have the custom jell.there's a lot less interest , and help for custom, being literature, artwork or structure, and better interest in utilization of aspects on wars and cybernetics.Cultures equivalent to the North American one which will properly be better enthusiastic about mechanics and materialism as a change than artwork and literature , have spread contained in the approach the sector. despite the indisputable fact that sufficient years are left in this century to redress the imbalance, occursd a warfare occurrs in defculturef the artwork and clture

yes definitely
it influences so many people's views of so many things, it is wihout a doubt the most influential piece of literature in western culture even today
some one else said the us constitution but i would disagree b/c i feel that the power of the constitution is on the wane, a ban on flag burning? Censorship in the media? all the licsencing needed for everyting from driving to setting up a store? numerous restrictions on imigration? all kinds of rules and regulations on everything. If you ask me, we in america arent as free as many would have us believe.
another answer said the human rights declaration, but i think that this piece of literature has relatively little influence because most people would believe in its values even if it did not exist.
frankly, it worries me sometimes
because if you ask me the bible promotes many horrid ideas (like the idea that god can justly send most of the worlds populace to hell), and bans many that really arent bad(sex before marriage, homosexuality, and the right of a person to defend themself if attakced)
i think its influence is very prevalant throughout our culture, influencing our politics, relationships with others, what people value
politics-for one, i sincerely doubt that a non christian president could be elected currently, or for many years to come, also consider the proposedd ban on gay marriage, and the way politicians sometimes use faith to try and stir up support
relationships-for some people,(not most) someone's believing in something different from what they bleieve can be a bit of a taboo, and can taint that persons view of the other
values-the bible does promote some good values, and also some bad ones. though many who claim to be Christian do not follow the bibles values, many still do
good-love thy neighbor, and others
bad-blind faith, and the belief that most of the world is so evil that they deserve to be sent to hell, and that a 'loving' god will give them what they deserve
whew, that took a while

I find your's and JT's answers neither to probably be totally accurate - literature implies that people bother to read something for the sake of its content, it's ability to guide, to influence, to persuade, to create change, and I'm afraid we live in a culture that if it's not blasted into our ears, then we're not getting it - and that's sad and disheartening - as it really means we're headed into a most illiterate state of affairs.
