That's funny, Wyndhawk! ;)

I am peeved at a particular stylist because she didn't listen to me. Some of it's my fault for leaving the salon yesterday afternoon even though I wasn't happy with what she did to my hair color--I don't know why all of a sudden I felt so timid. I guess I didn't want to have to confront her about it with all those other clients in there, so now I have BLACK hair. :( This girl is nice and all, but she TALKS way too much, so I think she was so busy conversing with the clients and the other stylist that she didn't listen to what I wanted, and did what she THOUGHT I had said. She's the owner of the shop, BTW.

Pay attention to your client. Listen to what they want, and if you can't do what they're asking because you don't know how or because you know it could end up damaging their hair, then be honest with them. Perhaps there was a reason she couldn't color my hair the way I wanted it, but if that were the case, she should have said "we really can't do it that way and this is why" and explain to me why not and give me some alternatives.

I'm too embarrassed to go back again to have her fix it... I don't think the third time would be a charm in this case, and I feel horribly ugly now. Next time anyone touches my hair I'm not moving a foot out of the salon unless I'm totally satisfied.

Communicate with your clients! They're your bread and butter, please treat them like they're important to you. :)

You sound cool to me... can you fix my plain boring black hair? ;)

I hate when hairstylists say they are capable of doing a cut or certain stlye, when they have had virtually no experience doing it. For, instance, I had to explain the definition of a U ring to my last stylist, while in the middle of her cutting it. And yes she said it would be a cinch before she began. At least if I know up front that the expertise isn't there, my expectations won't be as high, and I won't be as disappointed.

My hairstylist doesn't wash the cape and it smells dank. He is far left "new age" and every visit to get my hair cut, he has some new idea, healing, supplement or other concept to pitch.
He has a wonderful artistist touch with the sissors and an amazing shampoo girl.
He owns the salon & is the sole cutter in the salon....should I be tipping him AND the shampoo girl?

Thank you for asking. When I was in my late teens to early twenties- in the late 80's to 90's- I would ask hairdressers for a specific hairstyle, even showing them a picture, that wasn't the latest trend, but I knew it would suit my face. Instead, they kept giving me a top o' the muffin cut. This happened several times so I learned to cut my own hair and have not parted with my money to a hairdresser since. I would like to learn to trust again, but the memories of the muffin cut upset me.

When a hairstylist puts the apron thing on you..then puts the cheap piece of paper around your neck..cuts your hair..lightly dusts you off.. and you still have hair all over your neck..

here are some annoying things i have experienced throughout my past experience with hairstylists:
-when they comb your ears/earrings...it hurts!
-when they do what they think will look better...instead of what you told them to do
-when they forget that if you cut hair when it's wet...it will bounce up shorter when it dries
-when the hair dryer is too hot
-when they use the thinning shears right at your part so you have little hairs sticking up at the top of your head.
-when they gossip....dang! thats annoying!!
-when they ask personal questions..
so ya i could go on and on but thats most of them

Back when I had hair and needed to get haircuts, I got really annoyed when an attractive hairstylist would do her best NOT to rub her boobs in my face when manuvering herself around my head while cutting.

She doesn't have to do that. I don't mind. Really I don't.
