I recently checked my credit scores and this is what came up...

Transunion: 503
Equifax: 459
Experian: 574

I have noticed numerous errors in all 3 reports but didn't think it was worth my time to fix... I'm beginning to think I was wrong.

Is it normal for there to be such a large descrepancy in scores? what suggestions can you give me to make this go up.

If you check out this post of mine http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=A9FJuifuQNBEjykB.wDsy6IX?qid=20060801220502AA4k8nY
you'll see my intentions. I'm thinking I'm screwed. Any hope out there?

Thanks.

Yes there can be a large discrepancy in your scores. Many times you may have a baddie that is listed only on one report and not on the others etc. I hope you got your scores directly from FICO as scores from any other place - even the credit bureaus are not true scores.

Alot of what you do to clean up your reports depends on if you are out of the statute of limitations (SOL) for collecting. Sometimes if you try to clean your credit up while in SOL only leads to waking up the collectors. Unless you are planning to pay on the collections.

The first thing you need to do if you decide to clean up your credit and especially if you are planning a major purchase is to OPT OUT. If you do have debts that are in collections, the collectors will notice that you are home shopping and make your reports even worse. 1-888-5-OPTOUT (567-8688)

If you do have true errors on your reports, you can dispute them with the bureaus. Do not use the free FACT-ACT credit reports or the online tri-merge reports to dispute from.

The free reports will give the bureaus an extra 15 days to complete their investigations and the tri-merge reports are generally incomplete or inaccurate. Order your paid reports from each bureau.

You might go to the site I've listed. Do some reading in the newbie forum and then in the credit forum. It is a free do it yourself credit repair site. There is tons of info on that site that will aid you in cleaning up your credit.

Is the cardboard certainly a joint card? Or is your relative listed as an authorized person? It makes an excellent distinction. you will not have the skill to get rid of the relative from a joint account. you may might desire to close the account. and of direction, it would not be closed till finally the steadiness in paid in finished. removing an authorized person won't make any distinction on your credit. Paying off the credit card could make a distinction -- donning balances of greater advantageous than 30% of the cut back hurts your score. pay off the steadiness and your score gets an instantaneous strengthen.
