FYI.. to the poster who said the sun will nova. The sun is too small in mass for stars to supernova. It will become an expansion in to a Red Giant and completely engulf everything in it's path.. The minimun Mercury and Venus and possibly Earth.
To answer this question, Earth will be rendered uninhabitable in approximately 1 billion years due to the sun's increasing output of energy. At this point the Earth will no longer have water, life, everything will be null and void. Earth will resemble closest to Venus. HOT AND DEVOID. In about another 3 billion years as the sun is growing and growing and growing, it will have expanded 1000 times it's size and will have engulfed all the planets in it;s path (possibly mars and Earth will have escaped but not unharmed) and then it will start it's cooling process and eventually it will become a white dwarf star. When it is in Red Giant Stage-- only pluto will be habitable and before then we will have planet hopped all the way to pluto to try and save our a$$e$.

Your Inputs:
Distance from Impact: 5000.00 km = 3105.00 miles
Projectile Diameter: 10000000000000000.00 m = 32800000000000000.00 ft = 6210000000000.00 miles
Projectile Density: 99999999999999 kg/m3
Impact Velocity: 5000.00 km/s = 3105.00 miles/s (Your chosen velocity is higher than the maximum for an object orbiting the sun)
Impact Angle: 20 degrees
Target Density: 1000 kg/m3
Target Type: Ice

Energy:
6.54 x 1074 Joules = 1.56 x 1059 MegaTons TNT
The average interval between impacts of this size is longer than the Earth's age.
Such impacts could only occur during the accumulation of the Earth, between 4.5 and 4 billion years ago.

Major Global Changes:
The Earth is completely disrupted by the impact and its debris forms a new asteroid belt orbiting the sun between Venus and Mars.

That is friggin' awesome! I destroyed Earth!

Wow, with all the garbage spewed on this site I'm surprised I haven't heard "Global warming will kill us all!!!" yet.

As for how the Earth will actually end, the Sun will become a Red Giant and strip the Earth of its atmosphere, eventually engulfing the Earth in a fiery hellstorm that would even make God jealous.

The sun, after loosing its energy, will emerge as a red giant and the earth will collapse into sun and become a part of the sun after 2-3 billions years.

First of all, the sun will not supernova as someone else told you. What will happen, in about 4.5-billion years, is the sun will expand greatly into what's called a red giant star. This expansion will swallow up the planets Mercury, Venus and Earth.

I believe it will end as detailed in the last book of the Bible, Revelation, basically, with a rapture of all the Christians; judgments for all who are left for 7 years; then the earth will be destroyed; and everyone goes to either heaven or hell, based on whether they believe that Jesus died for their sins.

the sun will eventually start to burn itself out. When this occurs, the nuclear chain reaction will cause the sun to grow into a super nova which in turn will reach the limits of our inner solar system. This will burn up all of hate inner planets which includes our Earth.

At least that is the theory.

sun expands gets really hot most everything dies then sun condenses and goes dead, or is it the other way around , well when the sun dies so does everything on earth however the planet might still be here unless the sun goes with a bang and we do too. anyway you have about 300 million years

I fiqure a large enough astroid or some internal problem that will cause it to go the way of the Death Star or the Sun burns out or explodes.
