I always wondered the same thing. When I was little, my parents never worried about getting me to sleep if I was crying. They'd let me cry myself to sleep and it was always the best sleep I had. I know that sounds terrible, but I was little, and little kids cry.
I agree though, it must be the emotional workout you get.

It drains you both emotionally and physically. It takes a lot of work to cry.

Becausing crying makes me physically sick, I get a headache and sometimes throw-up, so I go to sleep until it subsides.

It is a physical workout to cry. When you sweat, you release a lot of toxins from your system. Tears discharge them too.
