I'm not generalizing anybody. Not all Christians are the same, I know this because I am a Christian. Christians are anybody that beleives that Jesus Christ died for their sins. Period. That includes ann denominations of Christianity. This is not a yes or no question, it was ment to spark answers.

I do seem to be meeting more and more Christians who are more interested in hating gays and protesting than they are at helping the needy. I'm not at all saying that this is ALL Christians, for I've met many more who are helping the needy and showing God's love to the community.

I think that you are exactly right! This world would be a much better place if we did spend more time helping people, and less time telling them what is right and wrong...thats Gods job and only he can judge us. The people who condemn others and judge them are just as bad as the people who are doing whatever it is they are being judged for.

My time is best spent being where the Lord directs me to be, not where society thinks I might fit.

Spreading God's love and compassion is accomplished by feeding the hungry and caring for the homeless as well as lovingly redirecting the life of a lost soul. The mission of a believer of Christ is not primarily centered in ministering to the impoverished or unfortunate as much as it is directed toward spreading the Good News of Jesus Christ to a dying world. If a man perishes with food in his stomach but has no revelation of Jesus Christ through salvation, his soul will suffer far more after death than his body did in life.

I don't believe Christians are trying to change society as much as society is trying to change Christianity. It is simply wrong for the church to agree with immorality; the stand that Christians take against it through public protest is one way of holding the moral ground where the bible figuratively 'draws a line in the sand' against sin.

Your statement about Christians needing to stay uninvolved in anything but feeding the hungry and bandaging the sick is akin to saying that a women's time is best spent being barefoot and pregnant...it's her place in life, after all...

I do believe that feeding the hungry is an important issue though if we as christians follow the word of the lord and savior homosexuality is a sin therefore gay marriage is wrong. On the other hand people will do what ever they want it is not us mortals that will do the final judgement call. I'm against the use of the word marriage or married in any context used when joining two people of the same sex that wording is sacred and means the bringing together of man and woman!!!!!!!!!!!

I am a Christian..I would not spend time protesting Gay Marriage.. I would spend time feeding the hungry and I have.... it is funny,.. you have a few people that protest and get on the news to represent all Christians funny how the media slants things like that.... sort of profiling isn't it??? :( and sort of doing to Christians what a few are doing to others... sad... very sad... :( A side note to this... is just because someone claims to be a Christian does not mean they really are......Have you ever heard of wolves in sheeps clothing...

Although I have very strong convictions when it comes to gay issues, I believe my time as a Christian would be better spent feeding the hungry. I believe that my prayer time should be spent praying for those who need to find the Lord -- not matter what their sins are. Everyone needs Jesus.

As for gay marriage, I believe that the Bible clearly spells it out -- that marriage is for a man and a woman.

Feeding the hungry is more appealing to me but when asked I will give the Lord's answer on homosexual relationships. After all it is not my opinion and I would be giving Gods answer on any sin if asked. This is not to say that I am perfect but I am not proud of my sins and I don't call them right. I ask forgiveness and try not to do them again. No matter what a sin is a sin in God's eyes and there is no way around that. Do I hate homosexuals?..No! I love them. I would not go around them preaching that their lifestyle is wrong unless the Lord led me to say something. I would leave it up to the Holy Spirit to convict them. Condemnation is from Satan and a condemning spirit is not from God.

There are many Christians that do all of the humanity items. It's a select few that are being seen protesting. Granted they are not the best examples but they believe that they have a purpose and are filling it. I just ask you this question, is it better to help others and allow your childs mind to be poisoned or do you do something to help your child and not take that time to help someone else?

I think that more time should be spent helping the needy than protesting against the decisions that others make. The corporal and spiritual works of mercy will bring you closer to God...protesting gay rights will not bring a person any closer to God. It only makes them feel like they are superior because they believe they are right.

Corporal works of mercy:
# To feed the hungry;
# To give drink to the thirsty;
# To clothe the naked;
# To harbour the harbourless;
# To visit the sick;
# To ransom the captive;
# To bury the dead.

Spiritual works of mercy:
# To instruct the ignorant;
# To counsel the doubtful;
# To admonish sinners;
# To bear wrongs patiently;
# To forgive offences willingly;
# To comfort the afflicted;
# To pray for the living and the dead.

These are more important than judging and criticizing others.

Christians don't feed the hungry, they teach the hungry how to feed themselves. Most of them already know, they just wait for someone else to feed them.

The salvation army is a Christian charity/social service, however.

On a similar note: If all the liberal-democrats spent as much time and energy providing social services instead of campaigning to get others to foot the bill, maybe there would be no poor/hungry in America? Instead of doing it themselves, they point to others to do it.

I would much rather feed the hungry. I think the best way to show the world that I am a Christian is by helping those in need and not by belittling those who have different beliefs than I do. I think that the Chrisitian population in general needs to refocus their efforts towards helping those who are less fortunate, or are in need of shelter, food, ect.. due to world disasters.
