No one can be any more certain about it than anyone else...that being said, I find that usually the more certain they seem the further they have their heads up their butts. Everyone is living by their interpretation of a book. Would such a good and loving god really hold it against you if you interpreted things differently than the next? My point is, your asking all the wrong people, the only one that should be able to answer it is you..do you think you should go to hell for that?

And to James n... I know, its hard to believe that someone believes in hell, I mean its not like its a belief shared by billions of people over thousands of years or anything.

first of all, if you aren't saved you won't go to heaven. You said you don't pray much and don't attend church, so that obviously means you aren't saved. You can be the nicest person in the world without sinning at all and you still won't go to heaven. You need to have a relationship with God.

As for the lie thing..I don't think you'd go to hell. But then again thats my own opinion..if you are worried about going to hell then you need to start having a relationship with God and start being serious about it all.

btw starrwoode..that isn't true about the baby thing. the bible says a child has to be over the age of 7 in order to go to hell, they have no know right from wrong..a baby doesn't know right from wrong.

Only you can choose which path in life you will take. The path to God and Heaven or the path to Satan and hell. If you have sinned, is it not better to seek forgiveness and repent? Keep your "house" in order so you dont travel the wrong path. In other words make sure you pray each and everyday and seek the forgiveness for your sins and repent, because keeping your salvation is an on going process.

If one lie is enough to get you into hell, then it's going to be a very crowded place.
As a matter of fact, pretty well everyone I've ever known or met will be there.
You really believe that telling one lie is on equal footing with someone like Hitler or Genghis Khan? (they must be in hell, right?) Wow, what an intolerant God you guys worship.
See....it's the fact that your religion makes you worry about stupid things like that, that completely turn me off. Isn't that a subtle form of mind control?

I agree with Don in that we are not expected to be perfect. If you asked God to forgive you your sins, he forgave them for you, all of them, even the ones you haven't committed yet. Confessing sins you've committed since then isn't required to stay saved, even though God asks us to do it for him as part of a developing relationship with him.

I would be more concerned with your overall state, rather than specifics of this lie or that lie. If you take this answer and use it as an excuse to go lie and sin all you want, especially given your own description of yourself in the details of this question, I think you should ask yourself whether you sincerely believe. You say you're a Christian-- are you really saved, or is it just for show-- fire insurance, as they say? I can't tell you one way or the other what to do, but God knows your heart.

there is no hell. you will have to deal with your Karma for doing good or bad things eventually. in this life or future lives. Hell was a thing that the catholic church made up a few thousand years ago to scare people in to doing what they wanted. you should be more of a spiritual person and not a religious person. your own spirituality even if you believe in God and Christ is more important than what any religion and church will tell you. what is in your heart.

Of course God wouldn't send you to hell for that. In the Bible it says that if Jesus is our Savior then we are saved. If we were saved based on what good or bad things we've done, we would all be in trouble. If you truly believe that Jesus is God's Son and that he died for everything wrong you have done & will do, and you have given your life to Him, you won't have to worry about going to hell. God doesn't want anyone to go to hell but He can't make us do anything either. Hope this helped!

When one has truly given their life to Christ, their sins are forgiven forever and we are in the hands of God for the rest of our lives. But my question to you is this - if you have given your life to Christ, then why do you not want to pray on a regular basis, be in the Word daily, and we cannot live the Christian life perfectly, but we can live it to our best each and every day and in that we find the guidance of the Holy Spirit ever leading us onward. I believe it is wise to have a will and a living will, regardless of ones age. Paul looked forward to dying, but he also knew that his witness must last as long as he could make it last, and that meant as long as he had life. We too must live in this way, knowing that God has ordained our days and they will be much too short regardless of how many years they may last.

Only God knows where he's sending you..no matter how hard we try, we can't predict. if you're going to heaven or hell. I think tis okay to hope to die once in a blue moon, but don't force it if it was not meant to be. Just live your life, try to do right, and when you're gone, your gone <--(doesn't sound that hard, does it? well it doesn't have to be). Don't stress. Everything falls into time & place.

Well if you sincerely asked Jesus to come into your heart then I do believe that you will go to heaven no matter what sin you have committed. But I also think that if you sincerely did that then there would be a change in your lifestyle from before christ to after christ. I think that you would want to talk to him or pray. Your relationship with christ is like a marriage. Would you ask someone to marry you and then leave them high and dry?
