I have to fly across country again next week. These daydreams cause silent anxiety attacks each time I fly. What do I do (I don't drink)??????

Why worry about something you can't control? It's not like you can stop a plane from crashing. If it happens, it happens. Things happen all the time. No reason to worry about it. If your so troubled by your dreams, then don't fly, or take medicine. Life's too short to worry about that type of ****. And besides, they are just dreams. You're in to healthy lifestyles, so you of all people would know that dreams are a healthy part of existence. Face your fears. Life is too short.

I always get nervous before I fly. This year's been really bad though. I usually enjoy the take off, but I felt sick this year and really anxious. Sucks, huh?

You might want to consider talking to a doctor and see if you can get some Xanax for the flight. You don't need a month's worth supply and the doctor will perscribe a few if he thinks it will help. You could try sleeping, or maybe you can listen to music, play an electric game if you're into those, or if you have a laptop, you can do some writing or watch a movie.

If there's something you really like doing, like listening to music, or something that calms you down and you can do that on the plane, go for it. Sometimes talking to someone helps, so if can call a loved one or a close friend on the plane, that might help to.

Oh! You can get a stress ball! That might help relieve some of the anxiety. And if you feel sick when you're anxious (like I get) try singing a song in your head. I concentrate on the lyrics and how it sounds in my head and helps ease the sick feeling.

Peace and Best!

You can do what I do.. Flat out refuse to fly. I am 30 years old. I have never been on a plane, have no intention of ever setting one foot on a plane,or even getting anywhere even remotely close to a plane. If I can't drive, it is nowhere I need to go.

But being realistic, if you absolutely must fly maybe you could talk to your Dr. about a relaxant to take before you get on the plane.Or at least something to treat the anxiety attacks. There are plenty of medications that can help with that.
You could even try taking something like benadryl before the trip. Usually that makes you a bit sleepy and may just be enough to calm you for the flight.

Good Luck!

Time to be logical, as you are emotional.

The percentage of planes crashing is minimal compared to cars, and I am sure you drive on roads. Research statistics.

You are flying (I assume) over US soil. Majority of those emergency landings are a total success, no deaths. No oceans either.

Can you control the outcome of this choice? No, you believe in the safety record of the plane company, research that. It is a gamble though, that is where the control factor is lost.

Bottom line: it is out of your hands. You must let the control go. Or, drive (yet, not safer!!). As you are extremely emotional in this issue, you must counteract with logic.

A balance of logic, and emotion, equals healthy choices.

Xanax my friend, Xanax. If you can't get that, sleeping pills and booze. If you're not 21 stay up all night the night before and sleep on the plane before taking some Nyquil.

I'm the same way, I look out the window and I'm convinced that the wing is going to fall of the plane and I'm going to die in a fireball, 30,000 feet in the air.

I used to be that way long ago, but i thought if you are destined to die on that particular day, it could be anywhere, be it plane, car or whatever. You will get over it I am sure. Good Luck

Do see a doctor and get some nerve calming pills, etc.
If not, then don't fly, since you suffer so much from it.

If you have faith, you can pray. But really, I understand what you feel..everytime I see or hear a plane...its like I wait for it to crash into something..\

well..i tend to think about worse things as well...like, when i board on a bus, though i do it everyday..i tend to dream that i will meet any accidents..road accidents..but from what i have learnt, its just that we tend to think about worse things that could happen to us when nothing such like had ever had happened to us..so, you don't have to be scared over this matter...just be relax and cool
