Did you read the Iliad? Why did the Trojan War take place? Not because of Helen, she was just a tool, as oil is today. The Natural root of War lies in overpopulation. Pagans recognize war as a force of Nature. That's why we have so many War Gods. The Gods aren't missing the fact that humanity is outgrowing the Earth's carrying capacity for it, and destroying Her other children in the process. There's no right and wrong, good and bad. There's a bunch of oil guzzling, tree burning, ocean polluting, shoot things for fun humans. It's sad, but it's also Nature. And I personally am against War, and I think Bush is a sociopath and terrorism begins at home, but just because I don't want to be a part of it, doesn't mean I don't recognize its necessity. Nature strives for balance, and sometimes we need a good dose of destruction to accomplish that. They can't kill us with diseases or old age anymore. They can't even make us infertile anymore. Natural disasters have only a limited affect. So we get war. It's our own fault.
As for the end of the world, we Pagans believe that life is cyclical, everything is. The world will end, like all things, but there will be something else eventually that is born out of its destruction. What it is, we don't, can't know. We are okay with the fact that we can't know some stuff. The energy of our being will continue on as all energy does and be recycled in one way or another. All in all, it's not that serious. And because these cycles are natural, there's nothing we can do to speed them up or slow them down, so there's no point in trying.
As for the end of the human race, well, species become extinct all the time. Why should the Gods stress over one, especially one as destructive as humans?

It is the same as all ways; it is just that some people like to blow things out of proportion and get people all worked up over nothing. No the Goddess dose not say that this is the end of the world that will happen when the sun dies, so we have a long wait for that scenario. The spirits are in a panic because people that are still alive are in a panic saying that all is lost. All that is happening is that we are approaching a new era in human history one that has the potential to change how we see the world we live in, and our view of the universe in general. That is all, and nothing more than that. Our destiny is in our hands, and not decide before we even know the choices. So if we sit here and do nothing then yes we are doomed only because we chose to do nothing when had the chance to do something about all of this turmoil. If we do all that we can to help change peoples point of veiw enough to alow deplomacy to work and hope for a lasting peace when this is all over.

Our goddess does not have a doomsday. She is loving and understanding and would not kill her children. The spirits are not happy about any violence that happens but then the higher masters know that we must learn and grow in every way. The goddess watches with a heavy heart that all of her children do not get along but is loving enough to let us fall on our own faces and to pick ourselves up again. She has given us the capability for rational thought and to discern the difference between right and wrong. We are responsible for our own actions and have no outside power to blame for what is going on. If we would just open our eyes to the universal truth that we are all the same just living differently, that all religions go to the same end (to be with our creator) then hatred, bigotry, prejudice and other social problems will slowly disappear. It is the patriarchal religions of the world that have caused wars, hatred and such. I would like for anyone to name one war started by pagans, by pagans I mean followers of a matriarchal religion.

All pagans do not worship the same deities so your answers will vary.
Personally, I have not seen anything from my deities to indicate that they are for or against the conflicts in the Middle East. While I don't think They'd condone fighting just for the sake of fighting, I don't feel they are opposed to fighting overall.
One of the deities that my husband and I worship is the Morrigan who is a war goddess (Actually, there are many deities associated with wars in Celtic mythology). All of our other deities are also Celtic deities. Celtic mythology is full of wars and fighting but it is generally because of either protection of the tribe or to restore honor. For these reasons, I see nothing wrong with fighting. In ancient Celtic cultures warriors were held in high regard and buried with their swords to take with them to the otherworld/next life. Swords and armor which were ritually broken were expensive votives and are a common archaeological find in bogs, rivers, and shafts. The goose was a symbol of war and is found on both religious as well as military items.
