I once heard it explained this way... If a man was born on a commercial airliner, and never left it, staying on board for every flight, every day of his life, he would be 70 years old before being involved in a fatal airplane crash.

Actually it depnds on the airline. Some have higher crash rates then others. Try going to AirSafe.com. They have statistics on the different airlines since 1970. Very interestiong and very informative.
