Do you think everyone would simply ignore and/or dismiss him as a crack-pot with dangerous, cult-like tendencies? Think about it, he was quite radical, and I'm not sure some of his ideas would sit well with most of today's organized religions, or anyone else for that matter.

What I find amusing is the fact that people get so defensive over their beliefs and belittle the viewpoints of others, when other beliefs really aren't that much more absurd when you think about it. I think Christianity is simply a child of mythology, not to minimize it...I do think there are some quality stories and valuable life lessons in the bible and would even say that it makes for good literature, as does mythology.

As for Jesus being alive today...I saw a man in Honolulu a few years ago that claimed to be 'Jesus'. He wasn't asking for money, just a gentle soul preaching on the beach. Who's to say he wasn't Jesus? How do we know he's not, but still we turn our backs on him like he's a loon...I think we're all going to burn.

I believe it would be no different than the way it was then.

In fact, most people DID ignore and/or dismiss him as a crackpot with dangerous cultlike tendencies!!

Hence the crucifixion.

That is exactly the basis of the Christian faith: that what happened then would happen any time.... that as a human race, we are all responsible for his crucifixion because we would have done the same thing if we had been there.

If Jesus (or some look-alike imposter) were alive today, and 'raised' a DEAD human to LIFE ---- now THAT would draw some attention . . . and crowds. . . and many 'doubting thomas' skeptics besides. . . don't 'ya think?

AND, if this modern day 'imposter' could change water into wine. . . the ONLY group that would consider him dangerous and want to run him outta town, on a rail, after a little tar and feather ceremony, would be the local AA. . .

What this world could use a bit of, today???

Quality wine, with a bit of healing, miracle magic . . .too bad the 2000 year old dream is just that, huh?

Christianity started out as a cult. That's where the whole Christian persecution complex came from: they had to hide underground lest they be fed to the lions.

It'd be a cult, but people would buy into it. The question is whether or not after thousands of years it'd gain the kind of dominance that Christianity has in our current time line.

I think your right, If Jesus were alive today He would have to come down from the heavens like something out of a block buster movie or get his own reality show to gain some attention.

I'm not so sure he lived how the bible says he did anyway. Radical folks live all over the world, so today I can't see that horrid death he was given for being different. The wake up call is simple...get out of the churches and start helping people..

Man he would just blend in with the other religious fanatics. Probably just end up looking like a David Koresh or Jim Jones, I don't think he would really be taken seriously by the majority of the sane people.

He is alive today. He just happens to not be here. But, so the story goes, when he does come back there will be no misconceptions allowed. Every knee will bow. He will be known as Lord to ALL.

I am probably coming off as "fundie", right? Guess again.

Oh, I'm sure you are right. Can you imagine--with His long hippie-style hair, robes and sandals, and talking about PEACE, and loving your neighbor?????? Christians would say He was anti-Christian, Jews would say He was racist against His own people, our present US gov't. would call Him a 'liberal" (as the ultimate put-down), and most people would think He was a terrorist!!!

Good thought for the day! Ponder this a while folks.........
