Compared to fundamentalist Bible Thumpers who don't count any baptism as valid unless it is full immersion in freely-flowing fresh water (although it may be a man-made channel, like an irrigation canal), they are not Christian. Compared to Buddhists, Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs and Jews, they are Christians.
Sects have divided over the use of irrigation canals vs. rivers, instrumental music vs. not and other things that look pretty darned trivial from an Agnostic's perspective.
"Neighbor" means one thing when you are from Arkansas, touring the Gobi Dessert and run into another American; it means another when you are sitting on your front porch back home in Sweetwater, looking at the kids from the next town cruising main street. "Christian" is the same thing; how close the two are depends on your perspective.

Both are christian. The original christian church was "the Holy Roman Catholic Church" and was started by a roman emporer who converted to christianity in an effort to better control his citizens. He in effect folowed the jews in accepting one god as God, and just as easy could have selected the jewish religion christianity is based on or had islam been there he may well have created a religion based on that. The cahtolics do not delegate responsible positions to women unless forced to and are now excommunicating women for that reason. Under the catholic church women receive little respect compared to the other christian religions. The other christian religion sects are an offspring fornm the catholic church regardless of the fact many of them do not consider catholics christians.
Catholics do not show Jesus the respect a savor should receive, but instead defer to his mother mary. The for some reason are stuck on the Virgin thing.

Catholicism is just one branch of Christianity. I assume you are talking about 'Roman' Catholicism, but there are also different forms of Catholicism , all claiming to have progressed from the early church that was established after Christ's death? Originally the Christian church was considered as a form of Judaism. Theoroetically, anyone who believes in Christ as the son of God is a Christian, even the Catholics!

Christians can be different - catholics, orthodox, protestants, etc. there are quite a few different christian churches. they differ from each other in their interpretation of the Bible, celebrating religious holidays, the way prayers and masses are conducted... plus different countries and cultures also influence religion, that is catholics may not be the same in 2 different countries even though they belong to the same church officially.

Catholic are the Christians. but not all Christians are Catholic. It means....they are not the same. As a human nature, imperfections make all kinds of modifications and additions to different kinds of denominations since there and still will be going on.

Protestants like to use the term Christianity to refer only to themselves, but they're mistaken. A christian is anyone who follows Christ: period. Catholics are Christian, Protestants are Christian, I think Jehova's Witness and Mormons are Christian (but don't hold me to that).
The Catholic church certainly believes different things than the Protestants, but Christianity doesn't believe anything in and of itself; rather the beliefs of any christian religion are derived from the bible, specifically the words of (and intrepretation thereof) of Christ.

The catholic bible has 14 more books called the Apocrypha in it that a large portion of christian theologians have dismissed as mainly fanciful stories. They believe the virgin mary can get you closer to God which is a falicy and that priests can absolve you of your sin another falicy, because only Christ can do those things. This is in addition to the protestant christian beliefs. So to answer your question yes and no.

Catholism is just a denomination of Christianity. Catholics are Christians. There are many denominations of Christianity, for example, Lutheran, Methodist and Baptist and while each denomination worships in their own way, they all have one thing in common...the Bible. Yes, there are difference between the denominations, like Catholics believe in pergatory and most other denominations don't, but as long as their faith is based on what is written in the Bible, they are Christians.

I would think that if Catholics believe in God, then they are Christians. Isn't that the definition of a christian?
