Should I open it up and try to get rid of it? Any suggestions on how to get rid of it? It's a sony ericsson cybershot.

uh.. it has sand in it becuase i went to the beach. It works fine, the shutter is just a bit messed up and I'd rather not have sand in my camera before I go on vacation.

take to your local photo lab, they will take ie apart and spray it with compressed air!!!

take note of babygirl's advice. if it is insured place on roadway , get someone to drive over it and then make a claim. or drop it off the back of a ferry. just a thought tho ...if you haven't taken it to bits, how do you know it has sand in it ??? i smell a setup.

Take your camera to a repair shop and have it professionally cleaned.

Failure to do this will turn your camera into an expensive paperweight.
