Does it mean that we were created to look like God? Or does it mean that God is the creator and gave us the ability to be creators as well? I'm not a Christian, but I believe that there is some truth in the bible.

The term "created in god's image" means simply what god imagined us (man) to look like. Not that we look like him, otherwise we would all look the same. Rather the creator decided how we should look. I to am not christian, and believe that there is some (not much) actual truth in the bible. I am a witch and that is my opinion. for some interesting reading look up the ancient babylonian myth of the great flood (written way before noah) and compare it to the ark story.

Yes is the answer to both questions. We were created to look like God (and our Heavenly Mother as there needed to be a female image) and we were given the ability to create from our Creator.

Being that God is spirit and Jesus is the fully human God. God made us all flesh and bone. Thats is what Genesis 1:26 means. To make man in the image of God/Jesus. In a way we are creators, by being able to reproduce children, but God is still the head creator .We are a soul, and a spirit with a body.

We were created to look like God. And to a certain extent, I believe you are true with the whole humans as creators thing.

God is his word, and the word is God. He is spirit. This is the Image of God that Man is.
He created the man, Male and female in one.
Suggesting that is image should be able 2 procreate. then He formed out of the man ribs, the woman.
the man is a spirit that has a soul and live in a body.
hope this help.

It means that our soul the spirit part of us is an actual part of God. God is spirit, our soul is a part of this spirit we call God. God created the spirit part of us from the same substance He is made of. Many have misinterpreted this to mean that God is like a man whith a human type of body. This is simple nonsense.

That part is pretty much logically false. If God is omnipotent, he can change his form however he wants. The only way we could be created "in his image" is if we are created in the image that God prefers to take.

I don't know your religion, but I've had this conversation several times.
My theory is we were created to love, hate, prosper and all of the emotions held in the bible, in order to go through the processes of following in his footsteps. (if this makes any sense, lol).
Basically, if you read the old testament, where God is basically a new force, we were created, expected to act a certain way, when we didn't we were punished, he was quick tempered and wanted to make us pay for our sins.
This in philisophical terms is kind of like humans as teenagers. Where we are trying to find our way, rebel, have quick tempers and just want everybody to realize we know what we are doing.
Then he grows, realizes the errors of his ways, apologizes, moves on with life and creation.
Has a son, who is of course, in his image. Kind of like our adult life where we grow, have children of our own, and try to lead them down the right path, to avoid our mistakes.
Eventually, he has to move on and let his son take over where he leaves off. Jesus had to die for our sins, in order for him to be the lord. Then the cycle starts all over.
Just like the patriarch/matriarchs of our families, move up the line.

I honestly believe that is what is meant, by in his image. We were created by him, to follow in his footsteps.

The bible, as i believe changed into written as easy because it may get. It has no longer been till we as people gained expertise that we start up to envision and question what verses mean, which motives us to get one of those vast quantity of distorted prognosis. convinced, all of us comprehend that God is a spirit yet how are you so certain that a spirit do not have an photo. Genesis a million: 26 says, "And God reported, enable us make guy in our photo, after our likeness:" God molded us from the airborne dirt and airborne dirt and mud of the Earth and made us in his "photo". God did not write the bible so as that lets take it aside yet to adhere to what he says. God made guy without sin yet he knew our paths. I also disagree with you keeping that we were made jointly with his attributes and characteristics. God is omniscience, omnipresent and all-powerful and he did not create us like that. So my answer for your question or remark is that we are made in only like God. we do not comprehend what he feels like yet we in easy words keep on with his be conscious.
