PIT BULLS....
When Pit Bulls enjoyed being the nation's most popular dog during the W.W.I era, there were no problems with vicious Pit Bull attacks. Pit Bulls were not banned anywhere.

America's first war dog was a Pit Bull named Stubby who earned several medals and the rank of sergeant for his service in W.W.I. He received a hero's welcome and was even honored at the White House. He inspired the U.S. Military K-9 Corps. He also went on to become Georgetown University's mascot.

Did you know that the Little Rascals' Petey was an American Pit Bull Terrier? Would the parents of the Little Rascals let their children be in such close contact with a Pit Bull day after day if they feared that Petey could suddenly attack them without warning? Of course not. Petey was by far one of the most well trained and intelligent dogs. I urge you to rent some of the Little Rascals' episodes that feature Petey. Lassie, the Collie, bit her trainer several times. Petey never did such a thing. In fact, the only dog that has ever bitten me happened to be my sister-in-law's 9-year-old Collie. Now I thought "Lassie" was supposed to be a great family dog. Even though I was bitten by a Collie, I certainly would not advocate the breed being banned.
Did you know that Helen Keller even had a Pit Bull as her canine companion?

Pit Bulls are widely used as therapy dogs, even today. Because of their high pain threshold and stable temperament, they do not bite or snap when accidentally bumped by a wheelchair or walker.
Alaska's first hearing dog was a Pit Bull named RCA. The Chako Rescue Association for the American Pit Bull Terrier has a therapy dog program that exclusively uses Pit Bulls. Pit Bulls also excel at search-and-rescue. This breed is one of the most loving and loyal breeds that exist today.

I LOVE MINE!
HE has a clean record and NEVER attacked or bit anyone...WHY?
Because I am a great owner, I am responsible and trained him at an early age, and IF anyone come to MY house to collect my dog to put him down I WILL KILL THEM!
MY dog is peaceful and loving!
If anyone says negative things they just need to be educated!

I have to say that I heartily agree with Samuella and appreciate you putting all the good facts up about them. We also raise them and I have never had one that I do not trust - we have three children whom I love more than life itself and you better believe that I would not have any animal that I though might hurt them.

Another little known fact is that when the bombing in Oklahoma City occured they sent in labs and bloodhounds first but because of all the dust they ended up sending in pitbull terriers who because of their excellent hearing where able to located survivors with their ears versus their noses.

We are very proud of our dogs and one of our dogs is actually the first certified therapy dog in OK and is used in nursing homes and childrens hospitals. He graduated number one in his class and is a delight and blessing to everyone that he comes in contact with.

I truly believe that any breed of dog can be made vicious and it is time that the people who turn them into "killer" animals be punished instead of the poor animal who is only doing what it was trained to.

I was attacked as a child by a German Shepherd and had to receive over 320 stitches and my daughter was attacked by a poodle but does that mean I hate these breeds?? NO absolutely not - I know it was the owner who allowed it to happen and I have met many wonderful animals since of both of these breeds.

I like pitbulls, but really it depends on the dog alot of people have the wrong impression of them, I've had plenty and they were all wonderful dogs. Right now I have 6 dogs, one is a pit bull/ boxer mix, he may be a little wierd, but he's sweet and I love him.

I do, they are only bad if you make them that way. Pitbulls were originally bred to not be man agressive and I have found most to be gentle mild dogs if you give them enough to keep them busy. A tired dog is a good dog. I have an Staffordshire terrier, which is considered one of the bully breeds and as long as I give her plenty of exercise and toys she is great!!!

im not sure what a put bull is but i do like pit bulls.. i like all kinds of dogs. some people say pit bulls should be banned cause they can be vicious but thats not true. any kind of dog can be vicious not just pit bulls and vicious dogs become vicious because of there owners.. whether they intentionally make them vicious or because they treat them poorly.. bad people make bad dogs

My pit was a 50 pound cream puff. Any breed can be raised to be mean. I knew a standard Poodle with a really mean problem.

I love them and I think it is disgusting the way people jump to the conclusion that they are violent. It is the owners that make them violent and they get a bad reputation because people usually make them fight against each other. It's like how some ppl distrust rottweilers and german shepherds.

No, they have been overbred to the point where the breed itself is unstable.
There should be a moratorium put on the breeding of these dangerous animals!
