Alright- I really like this guys from work. I've known him now for six months and we spend alot of time together.
Well, he's 21 and I'm 17, and the other night we were talking and he brought up the subject of me liking him. He told me that in a different time and place he would totally date me and that I just need to be patient because we both lead such different lives.
I understood all of that of course, but what I dont know is- is he just waiting for me to turn 18 (which is in less than three months) or was he just trying to find a nice way to tell me that he didnt like me that way?
He always hugs me whenever he sees me and tries to make sure I'm happy. He tries everything he possibly can to make me laugh/smile. He takes me places and pays for movies/food/ect. in whatever it is that we are doing. The other day he took me to a Japanese Tea Garden- a place that is rated one of the most romantic places in the city.

So, does he really like me or does he just want to be my friend?

I think he likes you but is afraid to get involved with you because of your age and also because you work together. Give him time maybe the more you hang with each other he's falling more for you. I do think he is interested in you! Be patient, only time will tell!

First of all I have to agree with what he said in that you are at different places in your life. While a 3-4 year age difference isn't that far apart, at 21 and 17 it might as well be a decade. (Regardless of the legal issues it implies)

It sounds to me like he is probably attracted to you, and flattered by your affections towards him, but realizes he is playing with fire in terms of your not being a legal adult.

My advice to you: continue being his friend and spending time together. If his behaviour suddenly changes and he makes a move after you turn 18 though, I would stop and ask yourself if there is a chance he may just be taking advantage of your feelings for him. I hope that's not the case but boys will be boys.

Good luck and just remember to be careful. ;-)

he might like you but as it stands you are jail bait now. He is wise to back off.

You shoud think twice about this. AT these ages he is too old for you and dating in the workplace can be a very bad idea. What happens when it ends or ends badly and you still have to see that person again. If he is a superior, then this relationship is inappropriate and if he is married it is wrong. You need to back off and rethink this relationship.

I think he likes you, but he may just be waiting for you to turn 18 like you said, because it's illegal. And it is good that he is trying to keep you happy and such. Just wait and see!

sounds like he may like you but is waiting for you to be legal. There is also possiblity that he is being nice--but my money is on scared of the legal issues. Be patient and help guide him along and perhaps let him know of your bday coming up.
Best of luck to you.
