I'm obese and working on losing weight. That question is one I've had for a while, I don't remember where I heard it, but I haven't been able to find out anything different.

Just as a side note, I'm 22 yrs old, topped out at 280 when I got fed up with myself and have now lost about 20 lb by calorie counting, lots of water and exercise.

I have read about this before and this is what I found:
1) Drink lots of water - this keeps your skin hydrated and more elastic
2) Lose weight at a normal pace - doesn't have to be too slow either
3) Be sure to include weight training - this is KEY - you must do this because the muscle tones up the skin it's under. It will make th skin look better.
4) Use Cocoa butter or other good moisturizers after every shower..again, keeps the skin hydrated - helps correct some of the stretch marks- minimizes them.
Most importantly, lose the weight, tone up and the worry about the excess skin later - if you even have any. Skin is supposed to snap back, Pull some of your skin on your throat and see what it does - does it snap back or does it stay pulled out? This is one way to test your skn's elasticity

Yep Chapaton is right. If you've been obese for quite a long time then your skin is gonna be stretched out. Usually when obese people lose weight probably about 50% of them have to get the flabby skin surgically removed. But it doesn't happen to everyone.

It depends on how obese and how the weight is lost. If a person is grossly obese and does fad dieting there will be excess skin. However, a person can minimize the loose skin by exercising and eating healthy diet. I think it's great that you are working on yourself, good luck, I know it's tough but don't give it up.

No! It's not, most of the people who lost drastic amounts of weight did it through some kind of surgical intervention...but if you watch that show the biggest loser....those people did it with eating right...but the key was the work out! They used not just aerobic activitiy but weight training as well....if you do a rigerous work out with intense resistance while you are losing...not after...your body's skin should snap back like a rubber band...because skin is elastic.
Good Luck

Pretty much. The more excess skin, and the older you are the less likely that it will rebound as you lose the elasticity. You basically end up having skin removal surgery after massive amounts are lost.

Homeopathic Treatment for Excessive Fat and Weight :-
PHYTOLACCA BERRY's Mother Tincture is perhaps the safest and sure fire way of loosing excessive fat around abdomen. With Phytolacca Berry once you loose the excessive fat and weight you don't get it back because you body takes care of itself after that and keeps you from gathering up excessive fat. It is prescribed after having a baby too, to get the tummy to loose its flab and to make it flatter and tighter. And after loosing weight with this you don't get flabby it tightens up the flab and skin along with helping your body to shed the excessive accumulation of fat around the girth
The dosage is 15 to 20 drops of the tincture in half a cup of hot water thrice a day half hour before or after meals.
Avoid Chocolates, Coffee, Mints, Red Meat and Carbonated and Alcoholic drinks while taking Homeopathic Medicines. You have to take it for at least 30 to 45 days after that you start to feel the results.
To the best of my knowledge its the safest and the most sure fire way of loosing fat and weight and keeping it of for keeps. Excellent remedy for Obese people who cant seem to shed weight despite trying. Loose as much as you want to !
Homeopathic Remedies can be found at all Major Herbal Stores or could be bought on line, In most of the world Homeopathic remedies are quite cheap and easy to find and they do not need a prescription.
Take care and God Bless !
P.S
Regular active exercise is advised with all weight loosing medicines and remedies :-) Take care

It depends on how old the person is (skin elasticity decreases with age), and how overweight the person was to begin with.
Even if there is skin left over, the weight lose is well worth it.

I've heard that only happens when an obese person looses quite a bit of weight rapidly...but i could be wrong. Maybe you should talk to your doctor about that.
