I PRESS THE POWER BUTTON BUT NOTHING HAPPEND SO....I UNPLUG EVERYTHING THAT WAS CONNECTED TO THE COMPUTER (DSL,MOUSE,KEYBOARD,etc) SO THEN I FELT THAT THE TOP OF THE PC WAS SORT OF HOT SO I TOOK OFF THE CASE OF THE COMPUTER, LEAVING THE INSDE OF MY PC EXPOSED, SO.....I WAS TOUCHING SOME PARTS OF THE COMPUTER UNTIL I FOUND THAT THE POWER SUPPLY WAS REALLY HOT SO THEN I PLACED MY COMPUTER IN MY LIVING ROOM TO COOL OFF......I HAD TO BRING MY FAN TO COOL OFF MY COMPUTER, AFTER AN HOUR....THE INSIDE OF MY COMPUTER WAS COOL ENOUGH FOR ME TO POWER IT BACK ON SO I DID BUT THEN A FEW HOURS LATER IT TURNED OFF AND THE INDICATOR ORANGE LIGHT WAS FLASHING A LITTLE BIT SO I PRESS THE POWER BUTTON BUT NOTHING HAPPEND SO I UNPLUG THE POWER CABLE AND PLUGGED IT BACK ON SEVERAL TIMES UNTIL I IT STOPPED BOOTING! SO NOW I CANT LOG INTO WINDOWS OR MS-DOS OR ANYTHING....I DON'T HEAR ANY BEEPS, I TRIED USING MY OTHER POWER SUPPLY FROM MY OLD BUILT COMPUTER BUT IT POWERS UP THE INTERNAL FAN BUT NOT THE HDD, DVD DRIVER, OR THE FLOPPY DRIVE.

Sounds like dead power supply. Try a new power supply. It is possible that motherboard went dead too.

Well it depends, sounds like a heating issue... Your power supply should have a fan on it, look and listen to make sure that is going, because it sounds like it is not, if thats the case you will either need to do some slightly tedius work removing the power supply and replaceing the fan, or buy a new one... But if you sure the psu you tested it with works and the computer still didnt boot, well then it might be more, make sure all fans and what not come on and try it

YO MAN! do you have the right wattage, of power SUPPLY. if not that is your problem. it can not be the MOTHERBOARD. you see the power supply feeds the electricity to the motherboard. your problemo is your POWER SUPPLY. make sure is the wattage. 2-the other thing that ma be has happen, your MOTHERBOARD, HAS FRIED ITSELF. CRISPY WITH SPECIAL RECIPE.
question. did you put this computer yourself. if so did you check on the POWER SUPPLY usually in to days computers, OK. depending on the MOTHERBOARD. the POERSUPPLY RANGE FROM 350WT. 400WT. OR 500WT. any thing lower, WILL NOT WORK RIGHT LIKE IS HAPPENING TO YOUR system. ANYTHING HIGHER, WILL Automatically heat up your system and eventually COOK IT CRISPY BUT MEDIAN REAR.
3-WHEN you put this SYSTEM together, HONEST, WHERE YOU DRINKING ANY JAMAICAN RUM. if you were, just if, now. yeah! is well done. MOTHERBOARD.check the power supply. check the power connection fron your motherboard. HANDS OFF THE JUG OF JUMAICAN RUM MAN! .
do not do nothing with this ok, check the POWER SUPLY.. IS ALL IN THE POWER, you may yet salvage it. so start all over again..4- the MOTHERBOARD HAS A FAN, CHECK IT, THE CPU, HAS A FAN CHECK IT.

Is anything else hot? There could be a short curcit from the CD drive, the HDD, or the Floppy drive which forces more power back to where it came from, the power supply. What computer r u using and the power supply in watts?

When you try to boot using your previous power supply, if all you get is the fan inside the power supply then your MB is bad as well as the power supply. Otherwise, check to make sure the power supply is properly connected to the MB, drives, etc. I know this sounds easy, but it's important to unplug and replug to test because replacing your MB isn't easy, or cheap if you have to pay. Best of luck.

I would think that if it was a bad power source it would not power up even when cooled down as these usually short out .
Sounds like your processor or mother board is going out.
This could be several things form a bad switch(power button) , loose wire, shorted hard drive, power supply to your boards.
you'll have opt use the process of elimination. MIne die the same and it was once the tramsformer source heating up, and once the mother board.

the reason why the power supply is probaly hot is because the fan failed to keep it cool. Try a diffrent power supply to see if thats the problem. If its not your motherboard is probably dead.
