I am living on base, 700 miles away from my family, I am only 20 and we have no kids. When my husband deploys in a few months will the Army pay for me to move home with my family? Or will I have to pay out of pocket to move?

Someone told me that my husband is eligible for a move anytime that his orders change, is that true?

Yes they should-it is call AROD (Advanced Return Of Dependent). But they will not pay for u to go back to the duty station ur husband is at when he returns to the US.

No the army will not pay as the orders are not a Permanent Change of Station...(PCS orders) If you want to move "home" then you will have to pay out of your pocket for expenses with no reimbursement.
My husband deployed almost a year ago and I live 14 hours from my family. We had only lived here 5 months and I knew hardly a soul. I looked into moving back, and could not afford to do so. I have stayed here and am very happy I stuck it out. I have support here from other wives of deployed soldiers who know exactly what I am going through. I love my family and friends, but they wouldn't have a clue about that.
Just another thought for you....in your details you mention that you live on post. If you move home to be with your family you have to clear government quarters. That means you will have to re-apply for housing when your husband returns. I'm not sure what post you live on but here the waiting list is 14 months long for on-post housing, and you would find yourself at the bottom of that list and/or living off post.

My husband is also being deployed and Yes the military will move you home but then you will pay to move back to base. Also he will only get the amount of housing allowance that is stated for the base in which he is stationed.
You get ONE move. If I were you I would stay where you are, you will lose contact with the other spouse and with your husband. If something would change over there and you husband can't inform you and your FRG leader gets the info, they may not pass it on to you.

If the orders are permanent change of duty station and not a deployment then yes you would be entitled to a move on the government. Since this is a deployment the cost will be at your expense. Sorry but its on you to get home unless the rules have been changed. The best place to get this information would be the Base transportation office (TMO). Good luck to your spousal unit as he deploys and to you on your attempt to get home for a while.

If your husband is being deployed to a place where he can not take you with, you are eligible to move on the Army's dime. Have him check with the S-1 office to get things underway.

Godspeed to your husband and a safe return home.

Not likely. He is probably TDY the only time you rate a move is during a PCS. Go to the Travel section on your base and ask the experts, but I know every time I deployed my wife and kids had to pay to go home. Hope this helps

Not only will you not be reimbursed for it, your BAH stays at the zip code of his duty station and not to where you move to. Additionally, if you live in housing, you will be required to give it up and would go to the bottom of the list when you return.

Any storage fees you incur would come out of pocket as well.

You will have to pay for the move yourself. If your hubby's orders were to go from one base to another they would pay for you two to move.
