I seem to somehow enjoy being sad, like when I listen to sad music. I think I've struggled with depression for so long that I've actually grown accustomed to it. Does this happen to anyone else?

I know what you mean. I used to kind of revel in it, write poetry, journal, listen to music. It's a state of being where you feel very strongly. It works just as well to revel in nicer emotions though, like peace, joy, excitement, etc.

Hahaha.. i know wat you mean.

I use to enjoy being sad too because I enjoyed melodrama in my life.

But your enjoyment about being sad could be because feeling sad also brings you other feelings.. like warmth.. cos when you are sad, the people around you will show that they care...

But no one gets used to sadness ;)

THe reason why you are still depressed could lie in the fact that you enjoy being sad and depressed! :)

You just need to make a decision to enjoy being happy.... hahaha.. maybe you havent felt happy in a long while and don't know how it feels anymore.

So just go ahead and do something and feel happy.

I stopped enjoying feeling sad because I think it caused too much wreckage in my life. I also found that happiness was more enjoyable.:)

that's not normal. being sad is not enjoyable, that's why it's called sad. perhaps you've just grown accustomed to not being happy that you are content with the lack of joy. if depression is taking a strong hold in your life you should consider seeking professional help before it becomes dangerous.

I would say the only time I "enjoy" being sad is when it's time for bed..you just snuggle up under the covers and drift into a deep sleep..it's the best feeling in the world. As for songs, I would say, sometimes they make me sad but when I already feel blue, they make it worse.

I can't say that I've ever actually enjoyed being sad, but what you're saying reminds me of a line in the song Iris by the Goo Goo Dolls - "Yeah, you bleed just to know you're alive".
