The bananas we have here in the grocery stores are curved, but some of the wild varieties in Hawaii are shorter and straight. Much sweeter, too.

Got it on the second - the sun! I have, occasionally seen virtually straight bananas - must have something to do with their position in the "hand" and how exposed they are to sunlight.

I think their curved for "her pleasure" ..... but seriously my grandpa had a banana tree in his back yard that grew short straight bananas.

Good question. I have no idea. Maaayybbe... because they grow in clusters that are vaguely spherical.. to... uh... protect the inner bananas. Sure. That must be it.

i think the reason is genes or genetics... their curved variety which are the big ones and straight the short ones.
