why not reject god and worship humanity? discover the soul and the meaning of life through science and be our own gods? In fact if humans were indeed made in the image of god then shouldnt we treat him as a departed (possibly fictional) equal rather than a ruler? do you worship your parents? (i mean worship) am i going to go to hell for raising this question? or am i showing divine initiative and securing myself a nice real estate in a nirvana of my own design?

I always like to answer this question very simply. Why not believe in God, you have everything to gain and nothing to lose. It takes way to much energy trying to prove there is no God, when all you have to do is open your eyes and look at all that surrounds you, the good and the bad, you can not have one without the other. If it's proof your looking for then keep looking at science as your guide, as they are proving more and more that there was, is and always will be a divine being. I suggest you read "The Good News" a free magazine put out every 2 months. I can only assume though that fear keeps you from needing God, or perhaps it's merely sounds more cool to raise all these questions. I think you're a little of both, but of course I'm only one american with one answer.

first of all if a God dies, He would not be a God. We need God every day, when we sleep he would protect us unless uve been a bad person then He'll teach u a lesson. He is not equal to us because he can create something out of nothing(the universe). Well our parents are just the same as other parents, so how many superiors will that be? we certainly cant control anything like we have the power to do so. if we all worship our parents, who did Adam the first man worship to?
well im not expert in this, but i have faith, more info ask a religious guy like a priest of a God- believing- religion.

Yes , I'm afraid there are millions of people who need God, that will eventually change, but not in our life time.
They need God as a baby needs its comforter (or dummy)
God and religion is to the weak minded what alcohol, or drugs are to the weak willed! God is needed by millions!
You are asking these people to "chill out"? no chance they are right into it all!
To 'prove' God is alive they will use the old tried and tested stuff "Just look around you at the birds and pretty flowers" "Read chapter and verse so and so from the Holy book of blog" etc!
We cant prove there is no God, they cant prove there is a God!
At the end of the day I don't care either way, I do care when they keep sticking their silly ideas in my face and when any religion breeds warlike fanatics!
My best experience was not many months ago when the Christian Democrates got thrown out of Government in Holland, churches all over the place closed down due to lack of interest, really great, it will come to the rest of the world eventually. Yipeee!

You have a beautiful mind. What you believe in is up to you but you will refine your belief system as you grow older and have a more varied perspective on things. "God is dead" implies he existed, and by definition He is infinite, so He cannot be "dead." The whole conundrum with infinity is maybe one of the reasons of the concept of a "God" in the first place. I really liked one of the answers I saw on this subject. That if there is a "God", don't you believe for one second that he is so evil as to commit you to eternal torture (there's that infinity again). The Creator of All Things is not so inept as to not be able to take his "children" out on an educational field trip and not get them all back safe. If your soul does have and existence out of time, it will be beautiful and awesome. Don't believe some miserable Bible thumper's idea of existence. Peace and love.

There's no more hope for you. That's a shame, because you seems a very interesting & intelligent person, but sorry to burst your bubble - God does exist and He will never die. People might forget Him or wander off his road, but He will never go away. Do not rely on people, as people will fail and disappoint you. Rely on God as God will answer the prayers of those who confide and fear Him. But everyone have their own opinion, build their own lives, I'm just saying it's basically up to you to decide.

faith, hope and love - one said are the last ones in this world. and love is the highest of them... did you you ever wonder why love is capable to achieve so much and why people in love are the most happy on earth... God is definitely out there and everywhere, but the so called 'nirvana' - no matter one's beliefs - is a kind of 'tales of the unexpected'; you better don't (try to) manipulate as you might get exactly the opposite... Wisdom people advice not to talk about God, but do trust in God. I wish you to find you way and feel like your life is worthing...

Because we were not ment for this world. We are here to teach Gods word and bring as many with us to heaven. Worshiping Humanity is a waste. We will all die and it's what we leave behind to help others and how we lived that matter. God is not dead He created us in his image as appearance he is immortal in nature.
I hope this makes sense I wrote it really fast.

Humanity is a small part of life, on a small planet, circling a medium star on the outskirts of a medium galaxy, one of trillions in the visible universe. The invisible universe is many times larger.
What about this miniscule bit of existence do you find worth of worship?
You should set your sights higher.

With regard to your 3rd and 4th question: the two world wars incited widespread European cynicism about the ability of mankind and science to eradicate war for good. Until World War I, most Europeans were optimistic about living without a belief system.

Study Bhudism. It's the only religion that doesn't worship a divine entity; Bhudah was a real person.
It's probably the only religion that hasn't started any wars either.
