My ritual is burnt toast, a multi-vitamin and lots of water before bed.
Here's why:
The carbon from the burnt outside acts as a filter to help sweep away toxins. (They use the same idea for victims of alcohol poisoning in the emergency room, except those people get a much more potent carbon mixture pumped into their stomachs.)
The bread helps to absorb some of the alcohol.
The multi-vitamin helps replenish vitamins A, B6, C, potassium, and others which are lost during alcohol metabolism.
The large quantity of water, necessary to down the vitamin and get the burnt taste out of your mouth anyway, helps with the dehydration.
You actually fight the three major causes of a hangover with this: acetaldehyde (the toxic by-product of alcohol metabolism), dehydration and nutrient depletion.
Cheers!

I won't talk about the obvious cures (ie. don't get tanked, blahblah..)
These *may* work - really there isn't a known cure for all hangovers - everyone's body functions differently so one cure may not be the same for the other, I haven't tried some of these, so users discretion is advised -
1. Banana milkshakes with honey - the honey's there to help build up your sugar levels, milk helps rehydrate and bananas tend to help with stomach troubles.. this works for me.
2. Jog - works somewhat but hard to do when you're half asleep
3. Eat some greasy food (I wouldn't, but if you want to try it, be my guest.)
4. Lots of water - works
5. Rub a half of a lemon under each armpit (don't ask) - ok no witchcraft.. scratch this idea
6. Flat beer - never tried this. Flat beer is a disgrace.
7. Bloody Marys, Caesars - this works ok
8. one shot of what you had the night before that made you have the hangover, aka "hair of the dog" - never tried this, from a second source (friend)

A hangover is essentially just dehydration. Drinking lots of water with your alcohol should leave you feeling much better the next morning. Also, be sure to eat something before and while you're drinking as this will slow the absorption of alcohol into your blood stream and leave you feeling better the next morning.
Of course, the surest way to avoid a hangover is avoid excessive drinking, but we all know that's not always a viable option :)

I've come to believe that non-carbonated is the way to go. I think it has something to do with the bubbles putting things into your bloodstream faster. If I have a beer or two or a mixed drink like rye & cola, I feel it. However, when I drink brandy/grappa/schnapps (NOT the sweet stuff - the German stuff) I can have a few with no apparent effect - weird but true.

Hangovers most likely arise because of dehydration precipitated by means of the alcohol, so consuming tons of water whenever you get up after a night time of mild to heavy consuming, will aid. A little OJ--in case your tummy can tolerate the acidity--within the water is well too, for the diet C. In reality, you will have to take Vit. C BEFORE consuming, after which B nutrients after--in conjunction with plenty of water, of path. You will have to get up with NO HANGOVER by means of morning.

This might sound really unbelievable, but before you go to bed after a night of drinking- eat a bowl of ice cream. I'm serious- eating the ice cream after drinking cools your liver down, because drinking makes your liver get "hot"- and once you start cooling your liver down, everything else starts cooling, especially your brain. Try it, it always works for me- I never wake up with a hangover anymore.

Drink lots of water and get plenty of sleep. You can get the herb Yarrow and make a tea. Its also called the hangover herb. Its easy to get because it grows as a weed everywhere, especially roadsides. The only thing that ever really worked for me was lots of sleep, water and food.

Drinking alcohol makes you dehydrated, if you drink alot of water while you drink alcohol, you will not have a hang-over the next day. The head-ache you get from a hang-over is caused by dehydration

Drink liquids like PedaSure or Gatorade before and after. Hang overs are due to dehydration and they will help.
