Christians do, but why it is not something more Christians are passionate about makes no sense. God created this beautiful earth for us, and we are destroying it.
Another question might be, "Why don't Christians do more to fight hunger? Homelessness? Lack of health care for American children? War?"
To me, being a Christian involves a lot more than quoting John 3:16. All of us should use the many gifts God has given us to make the world a better place.
Thanks for the question. Peace.

I support being a good steward over all of God's resourses. Just not at the cost of human lives. I.E. I don't support abortion over saving baby sea lions. Children are more important. But we are to be good steward and not destroy the environment. I don't personally think we have enough regulations to stop builders from building homes everywhere. So I support protecting the environment as long as it doesn't become more important than protecting the lives of people.

There are some branches of Christianity that teach and practice stewardship of the Earth -- protection and repair of the environment, among other things -- while there are others that regard the Earth as evil, corrupt and ultimately disposable. The latter tend to see people in the same light, and so are not hampered by ethics in business; witness 'most any Fundamentalist businessman in action.

Because according to the Bible we have dominance over the Earth. which Christians translate to "let's take advantage of it!".
Also, because when things get too bad here on Earth, Christians think that God will come down and put a big band-aid over everything. So, Christians don't see the reason to be concerned over the environment.

I (as a christian) will not make protecting the environment my primary focus-as dictated by my faith, there are many other things that need to be fixed and given more importance. It doesn't mean we should disregard the Earth, but we all have our priorities. Many people seem to have environmentalism as their highest belief, their first priority and that may be where the discrepancy is.

Some do. I do. We are stewards of this earth. The big reason a lot of conservatives don't is because they are afraid of being lumped in with the New Age tree-huggers who believe that the earth is god and that trees have souls.
