Not all Christians speak in tongues. Some don't even believe in it. But, it is a great gift and to be baptized in the holy spirit and receive this gift is a wonderful blessing and no you should not feel weird doing it. It is a way for you to talk to God and only he can understand what is being said. You should never do it out loud unless someone can interpret it and has the gift of interpretation and prophesy. Not many people have that gift. But just to pray in tongue is a wonderful thing.

Not all Christians will speak in tongues, that's one of man's doctrines not the Bible's. Read 1 Cor chapters 12, 13, 14 and 15 for Biblical proof of this.

Speaking in tongues - I've been a Christian for quite some time - never spoke in tongues:

I did when I first started speaking. It felt weird because it felt like I had no control. But as time went on, I began to feel more comfortable with speaking in tongues.

Why would the holy spirit have anyone speak in tongues that no one can interpret. In the bible it was so that people could understand. Now a few phonies do it in a way that people cannot understand. They are trying to bring glory to themselves not to God.

talking in tongues isn't about babbling gobbedly ****. Acts 2:4: “and they were all full of the Holy Spirit, and began to talk with different tongues, because the Spirit gave them utterance.” on the day of Pentecost in God's Holy Church, the Holy Spirit found the persons and they began to talk different tongues, which means the different languages that folk were talking in that room and they could comprehend one yet another. God is a sane God and a God of order. He don't have people talking incoherent gobbedly **** that no you ought to comprehend nor does he make it a habit of creating people spit and foam on the mouths and fall over backwards. a unique form of spirit does that, not a Holy One. i ought to probable attempt to do away with that potential you picked up. Your priest received't be the single to to communicate with about that. Pray to God for the Holy Spirit rather that can help you you.

Christians feeling weird slapping their tongues?

God? He or She?

Church? Christianity? Jesus? Dying?

What is the Imacculate Conception supposed to mean?

Does Imacculate Conception = "VIRGIN BIRTH"?

Google Imacculate Conception and learn something.

What else do you falsely believe, Immaculate Deception?

Jesus, the basis of Christianity? .

If Jesus died, he could NOT have been God.

Can Gods die?

If Jesus 'died' on Friday and 'undied' on Sunday, what else besides Saturday was sacrificed?

Did Jesus give up Saturday for us?

No Eternal sacrifice, big deal for a day!

If Jesus died for our sins, there should not be any more sins, else why go through with it?.

If Jesus really DIED, he should be dead, dead, dead!

Life after death is like virginity after childbirth.

If the flesh of Jesus died, what was seen walking and talking on Sunday?

If you believe this stuff, you are not going to like the folks who don't. You want them to believe it too to validate you.

Christians want everyone to convert to their non-thinking in order to be 'saved'.

Believing and not thinking is like choosing a mental illness and becoming truly lost.

Maybe not a lot of sects do that any more, but the Bible says to. It's under the signs of believers.
any way, yeah, i felt a little weird, i still don't like others hearing me do it. I mean, it's God praying for me, why should anyone else have anything to do with it?

I don't think that I have ever spoken in tongues... but my brother has... but then.. I didn't know that he was because it sounded like English to me at the time... people were stunned that I could understand what he was saying... since then I have forgotten what it was.... it has been about 40 years since then.
