I was just answering a further enquiry re:a relationship answer which has given the girl more confidence. A guy tried my advice re his sex life and got the results he wanted before rating me best answer..
There's been a couple more male/female one's they were satisfied with, as well as health and dietary questions. I can only say, no hate mail and a 21% (before I answered this) best answer rate.
Basically, if you suspect you know what the questioner WANTS to hear but are apt to want to help them take a different view for their own good, then it's best to tell them you think you know what they want to hear and you ain't gonna necessarily tell them that. It's up to them whether they read on or heed you or not.
It's early days, but never had hate mail from advice of the type you illustrate in your question.. If a girl said she slept with six guys the answer would be a short, like, "If you aren't pregnant it's a miracle. Go get yourself a test kit from the pharmacy or see your Doc".
Some ask questions that just can't be answered here, except by those who wanna crack a joke and get a fast 2 points.
Others want advice or affirmation that what they want to do, or are already doing is right/wrong. The answerer has a responsibility to give the best answer possible. Unless you are an expert, then never give an authoritative answer: Preface it with, "in my opinion" and give it your best shot or leave it alone.
Except for specific advice about inanimate objects, never give a "no two ways about it answer", unless someone writes in and says "my eyes and ears are bleeding, should I be concerned", then it's a definate "call 911 or 999".
Lastly, why ask on here? I wouldn't, about serious stuff, but I can see the attraction of getting a broad range of answers from both sexes and various age groups, in nearly real time. Yahoo really are trying to provide a valuable service here, hence the way the point system is structured.
I should have just written, "you can't please everyone".
Now send me your hate mail!!

I see what you mean, but you know what they say about opinions and everyone has one. Some people also just tend to take things to heart. They want answers and people can't help but give their honest opinions. If people don't like the answers then why ask such questions when half the time you already know the answer to it? or You know what people will say. It can be pretty confusing but.........to each his own.

I would imagine that the people of whom you speak are not exactly the brightest buttons in the box, so to speak, that they are asking the type of question you cite sorta gives away their level of life skills, to expect them to respect your answer for what it you say it is, just your opinion / knowledge, may be asking a bit much of the poor dears.
On the other hand it may well not be their fault that they have no other avenue or arena in which to receive answers to their question, this they may find fustrating which in turn engenders anger and the only recourse they have to hand is lashing out at those who have been, in their eyes, part of the cause of that anger.
Or maybe they just have nothing better to do with their time and are too stupid to find other forms of, entertainment sad people ...

I can only tell you why I post... so I post on any issue either to get a voice out on an issue or to hear others thoughts on an issue. Sort of the basics of communication, speaking or listening.

I don't know, but what I do know is that those people that DO post crap on here are either desperate or lying. Like those little 10 year olds asking stupid questions, I never answer them, but you do read them, and it's just annoying. I think that Yahoo! Answers cannot be fixed because it is a free service. So we and or Yahoo! cannot do anything about it.

The way I see it they do it just for the attention. And the fact that they get mad is because they know your right and the truth hurts. And I wouldn't worry about making anybody mad if they don't want some body's opinion then they shouldn't waste everybodys time with their nonsense

Hi aussieblond75,
If you got hate mail, perhaps you were a little harsh with your answers. I don't think that you need to candy coat your answers, but you don't have to be cruel to the original poster either.
Maybe you should dial it down a little next time.

You have to admit though, some people do give some pretty mean answers to the questions.
