I couldn't agree more. I have no idea except that they have such
a profound hate for Bush that they will side with anyone other than him. I think that if they want to defend the terrorists that maybe they
could join them and move very far away!

Well if you're talking about prisoners there are several reasons. Primarily once you have an enemy disarmed there is absolutely nothing to be gained by mistreating him. Any harm done to someone in that case would be out of personal motives ie, anger, revenge, hatred, sadism. Those are not the reasons we fight wars. Mistreating prisoners might result in the enemy being more inclined to mistreat our own that might be captured. If you don't believe they play tit for tat, consider the fact that the beheading of the two captured U.S. soldiers occured AFTER the alleged rape and murder of an Iraqi family by members of the same unit. Finally, while it is unlikely we are going to change the minds of others with whom we're at war because we treat people humanely, it is very possible that some prisoner who has been brainwashed into thinking we are brutal monsters might change his mind after receiving fair and humane treatment as a prisoner. This could be a benefit after hostilities are concluded and people return to their homes. On the other hand you can't pamper prisoners either. Someone posted a link yesterday about conduct of prisoners at Guantanamo Bay. Clearly they are getting out of control. Prisoners should be expected to and made to act with discipline, obeying the camps rules and regulations. They don't deserve rights of citizens of the United States, they only deserve to be treated in accordance with the Geneva convention.
Now, as to your first question: I believe many radical liberals are strongly influenced by certain elements within our society which seek the downfall of the United States government as we know it and therefore will ALWAYS side with, aid, comfort, and support any enemy we may have. Some liberals I think are just ignorant or misguided, others know exactly what they are doing. It is like living with the enemy. Sorry to say I find many Americans disappointing.

If we engage in unethical treatment of prisoners, that we would not wish for our own soldiers, then what exactly are we defending? How then do we become any more or less moral? We say say terrorists are bad when they torture/behead, but if we agree to torture also, then what is our right to judge?
Also the Geneva accords (think thats the name) put in place rules of conduct that should be followed by all sides, to benefit all sides.
By the way I think Guantanamo allegations are a joke, the complaints they have are over the top.
It all comes down to the saying "two wrongs does not make a right"

They should have rights because we are BETTER than them and we have to set an example. If we just killed them all we would be no better than them. This is what our forefathers wanted, mercy. It is what thousands of our heroes in uniform have fought and died to protect is our countries generosity. Yes they do not follow the rules and are very tough to root out but if we just killed them all, what is to stop other countries from doing the same? We must follow the rules of war even if our enemy doesn't because it was good, freedom loving people just like us that MADE those rules. By the way, I am not a Liberal or a Conservative. I am just an average Joe that wants a change.

Politics is politics. Everywhere people take the opposite side even if they disagree with it just to go against you. Don't think for a minute the Republicans wouldn't do the same thing if it was reversed.
As far as treatment of others are concerned I don't see anyone complaining when US soldiers rape female soldiers, 12 yo japanese girls or Iraqi women. Yeah that is good treatment. Don't forget Guantanamo bay either.
Hezbollah needed bargaining chips so they kidnapped a couple of soldiers. Nothing to start a war over. If your family was being held prisoner you'd try to obtain collateral to get them back too.

Liberals, as opposed to Conservatives, are considered to be into "big government" politics. With "big government" beliefs comes a strong ideal toward rights for humans and the understanding of the human condition and human fight. To many liberals, terrorists are not just terrorists, they are human beings, just like any of us. To not afford them any rights under the rules of war would be to break down the very system that protects innocent people. Once you stop affording certain fundamental rights to a certain type of person, it can quickly get out of hand and that power can be later used against innocents, as well.

Liberals recognise up to a field of rocks.. The Liberal ideology is a concept , fostered by way of a delusional, illogical minority and which holds forth ideals that don't have any groundwork without a doubt. "When the persons discover that they are able to vote themselves cash, so that it will usher in the tip of the republic." Liberals love to spend different peoples cash!! The issues we are facing in these days are due to the fact the persons who paintings for a residing are outnumbered by way of folks who vote for a residing. @

I don't sympathise with terrorists, I just don't throw my support to wars that don't need American, Australian, & British involvement. Captured American soldiers being treated like crap..... ever heard of David Hicks? That's an unjust in itself and he's Australian.
