Why do a lot of Black Muslims?

The ones I know pesonally used grew up as Christians, went to jail and came out as Muslims. Some don't even do all that praying. All they do is swear that Jesus was just a profit and nothing else. Their ademant about not eating pork, It's like they traded Jesus Christ for "no pork eating". Plus I read that the Islamic way of living is a culture, not a religion. Are these things true?

its b/c in Islam blacks were treated good when they were treated badly all over the world and most black who were brought to usa were muslims b4 and then were converted to christian..so they want to go back to their old roots..and i think they dont want to have the same religion as whites b/c of how whites have treated them and many other reasons..
i have to add something..
to become a muslim u have to believe in Jesus christ otherwise u cant be a muslim....just Islam says Jesus was a prophet not the son of god like christians do..

Well, I don't know about the converting part but I know a lot of Muslims who don't pray 5 times a day. Same way, I'm sure even you know a lot of christians who don't go to church and open their bible, let alone read it. Same with the Muslims.

By the way I should tell you, many christians who don't go to jail, just study thoroughly and deeply by themselves the Quran and the Ahadis convert too. But that's another thing.

Islamic way of living is not a culture. That's ridicuous. It is a religion and the only known religion which is according to the nature of man. Maybe people will say the worship the Ka'ba. That's not true. That's ridiculous. they might tell u they degrade their women by making them wear hijab. I would like to ask you, why are there so many cases of rape, sex, physical and child abuse in places like America and Europe? They will tell you, Islam is the only religion that allows polygamy. That's not true. At one time, the emperors of France who were christians had so many wives and concubines. So did Solomon in the Old Testament. Hindus still do it. N another thing, why are there so many mistresses and extra-martial affairs in Europe???

They will tell you a lot of rubbish about Islam. It is up to you to beleive them or find the answers.

no- you are misinformed. Islam is a religion. also, the guys who went to jail probably realized that believing in jesus is not all that great. for example, what is the difference between a person who believes in jesus and someone who does not believe in jesus? there is no difference. the only thing is christianity promises you will go to heaven. a promise that could be empty for all you know. and the old religions tell followers not to eat pork because pork can carry more parasites and bacteria than other animals and so it was a smart thing to do back in ancient times. so- there you go.

Most people turn muslim in prison for one reason. priveliges they get to pray more if your muslim there are certian times for prayer and those tend to be during work time. they do it for safety they do it for food since there religion doesn't involve certian food or certian items made from i think it's pork. you don't have to use prison toothpaste wich is has pork biproduct in it.
it all boils down that they become muslim for the perks not the faith...

It's natural cuz Islam takes poor people's side,and many black people are poor,"victims of injustice".
As for your 2nd question Islam is a religion but it also announces a living basis for its believers.

islam is religion for everybody whether he / she black or not. in the Al-Quran, ALLh says everybody can take islam as their religion&trustworty as long as you not playful with this religion.
