How do you interpret the twenty-third line in the Wiccan Rede?

To me, the twenty third line- Mind the Threefold law ye should, three times bad and three times good- is a warning of sorts. What bad things that you do will com back to you three times worse and the same goes for doing good....Karma if you will. For me, this line and the last line-These words the Wiccan Rede fulfill, An it harm none, do what ye will- are "rules" to live our daily lives by. It is a reminder as we go about our day to continue being the best person we can be.

Sorry, Richard - Willow wasn't a Wiccan. The whole "sacrificing a fawn" thing pretty much made that obvious.

By the 23rd line, do you mean the one about minding the Threefold Law? I fully believe that what energy you put out into the universe will come back to you. Is it a threefold Return? Not always. I also think that it doesn't come back in exactly the same form it went out as.

For example, on one board I used to frequent, I would sometimes (too often) give in to the temptation to be snippy and b*tchy to one of the resident trolls. The temporary "Take that!" satisfaction was outweighed, however, by the facts that 1) I got mad at myself for giving into it and realized I should be better than that; 2) it made others think differently of me when I usually tried to present myself as reasonably intelligent; and 3) the trolls took it as encouragement and instead of going away, redoubled their efforts and came back with stuff twice as vile as they had been posting before.

Threefold return? Possibly. I look at it as such.

Mind the Threefold Law ye should, Three times bad and three times good. Law of 3 meaning in laymens terms. What so ever you put out or forth will come back to you times 3. Could be three times, or 3 times as good or bad. It is our version of the 'golden rule', reminding us that what we put out is what we get back.
