I've often thought that there ought to be a Bible based superhero team. There were a number of characters in the Old and new Testaments that exhibited what would be considered (miraculous) super powers. Everybody has heard of the strength of Samson, for example, but many people have forgotten the speed of Elijah (with which he outran Ahab's chariot) and the ability of the apostle Philip to fly (or teleport, depending on how it was perceived by the witnesses.)

Miracles are sometimes too lacking in special effects to directly quite to comic book type super powers, but the ability to perceive hidden things, especially a person's unexpressed thoughts and intentions, to heal disease, immunity to fire, and to recover from death are certainly impressive.

We should keep in mind the passage in Jeremiah (23:29) in which God asks, rhetorically, "Is not My word like a fire, and like a hammer which breaks a rock into pieces?" We see from this that the word of God can produce both radiant energy (fire) and kinetic energy impact (hammer) effects. God's work, done in God's way, will never lack for God's resources. If we are truly obeying Him and not out to aggrandize ourselves, He will provide the wherewithal, be it miraculous or through some secondary source. If we are somehow, subconsciously, out to make ourselves look good, then all bets are off.
