Try writing back, something like...
We Shall Meet Somehow
I can feel your love coming through the wire
Invoking in me passions and desire
Setting parts of me to that longing fire.
I do wish I could just touch you, right now!
Our remote communication is so sweet,
As we talk of blind dates and ways to meet,
While saying things my poem shan't repeat,
Oh, we must meet! Let us consider how.
My employment keeps me here at my desk,
Though instead of working, I must confess
My frequent thought is how you always bless;
Irresistably drawn to your locale!
My body needs go where my heart does live,
Deliver in person the love I give.
Faithful toiling, I forgot the motive,
Oh, mem'ry! Stay focused upon my vow!
Transportation is my only delay
Arriving in the flesh to you today!
Provocative the thoughts of how we'll play,
Inhibitions melt, our love to allow.
We must meet somehow. We shall meet somehow.
Why can't it be now? We shall meet somehow.

If you really really really liked this guy, it's only reasonable for anybody to assume that you want him to be your best ( or close ) friend, right? If so, you don't want to lie to a future best friend, do you? Tell him the truth as to why you moved and how you feel about him and express genuine interest in getting to know him and ask him how he feels abou that. If his response is positive, he will work with you to get together and see each other so you both have a chance to get to know more about each other.

There's nothing much you can do, except tell the guy you moved. If it's really far then the chances of you two having a relationship will be difficult.

Be honest, and just tell him the truth, let him decide the rest.

The only thing you can do is be honest with him. Maybe he can drive to see you or something if you really like each other or you can meet in the middle.

If you've moved and can't really meet up, then just come straight out and tell him. If you were meant to be, then you will be together again somehow... if not, then he'll just drift into the wind..
