The two females are NOT friendly. They are 10 and 11 years old, and the new cat will be a kitten

As long as you spay or neuter, it doesn't really matter, but for the most part, male kittens tend to do better being accepted by older female cats. On average, they are easier going and more friendly than the females. Just be sure that you have the male neutered at an early age (6 months or so) to prevent his spraying in your house, and be sure you get a kitten. None of them will get along for a while - you'll just have to live through that stage - but with a kitten, typically at least one or both of the cats will gradually accept it, depending on the personality of the older cats. I'd recommend keeping them seperate for a couple of days with only supervised visits at first. That way you can see what's going on, and you can keep the kitten from harrassing your older cats and vice versa. Having lived with as many as 13 cats at one time, I'd recommend a male in the female mix. Your chances of their getting along is better.

I assume your females are spayed???? cats are very territoral and do not like thier space invaded. your cats are now senior cats and most likely will not want to be bothered with an energetic kitten who wants to play while they are napping.your cats eat adult food your kitten will eat kitten food until a year old. very full of calories not good for the senior cats. if you do this which I would not recommend because it will take a lot of hard work keeping them seperated but allowing them to smell or see each other behind a partially closed door where they cant get to each other. this will not happen over nite I guarantee this.I have also heard a dab of vanilla extract on all of thier noses will make them all smell alike. also get something the older cats have slept on and rub the kitten with this daily.Patience and TIME is the answer but if it was me I would love the older cats and not stress them by bringing home a live wire to them. they will be so upset and may hide and start shedding like crazy from the stress overload. think this over very carefully cats hate change especially older content cats

if they are too aggressive then maybe you shouldnt get another cat. if you want the females to get pregnant then i suggest a boy. but whether you get a female or male, you should put the older cats in a cage and hold the kitten when you introduce them to each other so the kitten cant get hurt. once they get used to each other then you can try to put them together but make sure to watch them closely.

Maybe you should wait until your older cats are gone to consider getting another cat; because a kitten would be a nusiance to an older cat and the older cats might harm the kitten.

My family had to make the same choice, we picked a female, because females may be mean, and unfriendly, but they might get to friendly with the male, and dont really need that, lol, even if there are spaded, and the male is fixed.

if you have 2 unfriendly cats why would you get another?? they could easily kill a kitten and it will be very difficult for you to feed them seperatley - they require senior food and the kitten should have kitten food - for either to get the wrong food can cause problems...

if you insist on getting another cat - get another older kitty - not a kitten

a spayed female would be best.. and ideally one who has lived with other cats before

If its a male, you may want to consider if it hasn't already been
done to get the girls fixed. But I've had cats of both sexes and
tomcats are harder to take care of than females.

As long as their all spayed it doesn't really matter , cats that old are gonna hate it no matter what it is for a little while at least if not forever .

Are they spayed? If not I say female. Either way I'd have the new one "fixed."
