what is the correct way to pray a novena; for example, St Joseph's nine day, nine morning novena--suppose you miss the entire morning because you got busy at work, will it still be effective saying the prayer as soon as you remember? Or do you have to start the nine days over? same question for the 9-hour novenas---

I'm Catholic.

I think that you have to start the novena over if you miss a day. However, I don't believe that all of t he prayers you said before go to waste.

Also, don't worry about the "vain repetition" thing. Jesus Himself used repetition in the garden of Gethsemane. The point is, if you actually mean what you say, it's not "vain."

Go on line and bring up "Catholic Novenas" you'll get more information than you'll ever need.

No "special" prayer or formula can reach God any better. Pray honesly with all your heart to The Lord and that is sufficiant.
