Daughter just got basic cable hookup from the wall. There is no cable box. She has a vcr she would like to record things on, and then be able to watch stuff on another channel through the tv itself.

How does she hook up an a-b switch to do this, or is that not the way to go about it? Thanks

No A-B switch needed. Just hook the cable from the wall to the "RF in" jack on the VCR. Hook another cable from the "RF out" jack on the VCR to the "RF in" jack on the TV.

To record a channel and watch another, just set the VCR to the channel you want to record and record. Then push the "VCR/TV" button on the remote and set the TV to the channel you want to watch. You do have to set the TV back to channel 3 (or 4), and push the "VCR/TV" button on the remote when you want to watch whatever you taped though.
