This is a tough question... Its not that I don't take the bible seriously- I do, however, interpret a lot of the stories in it through a scientific lens. For example, I believe that the Great Flood happened, but that it likely was more of a massive regional event than a truly global event... but then again, I don 't know for sure.

if they didn't take the bible seriously... would they really be Christians? their whole faith is based off the bible. I'm a Christian, and I don't take the Bible seriously in the sense that it is correct word-for-word, but i feel one should look deep inside it to see what it really means. i could see why someone could read it and find it ridiculous, but that's only if they view it for face value.

most of today's "christians" don't take the Bible seriously. that's why there are so many denominations. if you study the Bible for yourself, and don't believe traditions of men, and all of the "well, my preacher said, and my priest said" things that are going around, then you will find the truth, and you can't help but take the Bible seriously.
