I have a 94 dodge spirit, when I turn on the heater/ac blower motor the wires and the ignition switch heat up to the point it starts to smoke, if I turn it off than the wires cool back down. I havent changed the fuse it never blows it and it has a 30 amp fuse in it that is reccomended. Any suggestions?

Try disconnecting the blower motor, turn the fan switch on high, and see if the wires still heat up. If the wires are not heating up, the blower motor is internally shorted and needs to be replaced. If the wires are still heating up, I would check the blower motor switch. If the switch is okay (not burned/melted), then the problem is the ignition switch wiring. Not an uncommon problem, my old acclaim had the same trouble. The melted wires at the ignition switch need to be fixed regardless, I would suggest replacing the entire connector and about 6 inches of the wiring. Almost all 1989-1995 dodge/plymouth/chryslers use the same ignition switch so matching up a connector at the junkyard should not be hard. If you need more specific help let me know.

There is also a HVAC Blower Control Switch on the Dodge Spirit that might be shorting out. It might be this switch rather than the blower motor itself. Here is a photo of the switch: http://www.rockauto.com/ref/Airtex/Detail.html?1S2132.jpg

My Chrysler had similar electrical problems when the rear window defroster relay failed.

on no account replace a factor till ultimately you comprehend the subject. factors shops get prosperous off you diy ers You replaced all that stuff and don't say in case you have any spark ?? this is getting gasoline you're saying. desires spark to ignite gasoline. If no spark then iknowthis has it precise, something incorrect in distributor, magnetic pickup, reluctor, air hollow between reluctor and pickup (bout .008 i think ), rotor, cap, verify it out till now throwing greater factors at it The magnetic pickup could be examined for perfect resistance in case you have an ohm meter, i do no longer keep in mind off hand what that's yet factors shop ought to have a e book. you ought to study the ohms on a clean one and examine.
