witches have got bad press from way back, even before the time of the Salem Witch Trials. The word Witch brings about images of a lady with a wart on her nose, a black cat, and a cauldron conjuring up evil spells. We need to get over that image.

Majority religion folklore made witches things (not people) to be feared because they were of the devil. It takes generations for societal attitudes to change. I think it'll eventually get around to some place where people don't automatically think witch = evil.
Lead by example, ya know? That's how to affect a change, even if it is one that takes a long time. I'm teaching my kid that Wiccans and Witches are just people who worship a different deity and that's okay.

People do as they are told, and they are told witches are to be hated. Hated and, uhm... burned alive... Good thing that doesn't happen quite so much anymore?
Please don't be a bitter witch!
They're no fun. They sit around and b!+ch about how much everyone hates them, how hard they've got it. Blah, blah, blah. I guess it "harms none" but it doesn't do any good, either.
It is funny when pagans follow the life and teachings of Jesus better than supposed Christians... kindness, love, and forgiveness. All that nonsense, you know? A little less evangelism, but a whole lot more exemplary behaviour...

I hate witchcraft because it's of the devil...and it doesn't matter if you believe in Satan or not.
Little FYI--it was CHRISTIANS who were killed during the Salem witch hunts. Certain Christians in the community were concerned that there was witchcraft, and immediately the witches accused the Christians of witchcraft.
So witches weren't killed by Christians back then...witches can't whine about that.

People hate things they do not understand, especially minority groups. And since witches are a minority when viewed as a percentage out of the entire population, they are an easy target for narrow-minded people.
Personally, I'm Christian but have several close cousins who are Wiccan. I respect their beliefs, and they respect mine.

Devil?????? We haven't done our homework have we? Does Christianity teach hate?? I am a Wiccan High Priestess and I teach as well as lead a Coven and the one thing we do not do is preach hatredor about the devil........what is that anyway?? A christian concept. We embrace all religions and learn from them. We do our homework! before judging anyone for the life path choice and their religion. Why do you think Paganism is the fatest growing religion??? We do not teach hatred we teach love and peace....Wouldn't be nice if all religions could teach the same?

Because they are evil, despite what hollywood has been telling us, lately. They derive their power from Satan.
The same goes for vampires and werewolves and all the other monsters that were dreamed up to be evil in order to scare people. They aren't just "misunderstood" freaks with good hearts. They are EVIL.
