If the dr you go see doesn't want to help you , some drs think because you are young its nothing. I urge you to get a 2nd opinon, even if your dr. is helpful.

You should definitely go to a gyno and get checked out. If the larger appearance has happened quickly and it is painful, it's most likely a cyst. Tumors typically take months, even years, to become noticeably large and to make an entire breast to appear larger. You need to get it checked out to be certain, but if it is a fluid-filled cyst, the doctor should be able to aspirate it with a needle and probably drain it, which should eliminate the pain (the swelling is what's causing the pain). Make an appointment ASAP.

no one in my family has breast cancer either.. but i do...The most common sign of breast cancer is a lump or mass in the breast. Any change in breast tissue should be reported to a physician or other health care practitioner. Other symptoms include the following:

Dimpling of the breast
Lump in the underarm
Nipple discharge, pain, or inversion (turning inward)
Skin irritation (e.g., redness, scaling) of the breast or nipple
Swelling
Diagnosis of breast cancer is made through a process called triple assessment, which includes

clinical examination,
imaging procedures (e.g., mammogram, breast ultrasound, magnetic resonance imaging [MRI scan]), and
biopsy (surgical removal of tissue for microscopic examination) of a mass detected by physical examination or mammogram (x-ray of the breast).
its better safe than sorry.. go to a doctor...ok The American Cancer Society recommends these guidelines for women who do not have symptoms of breast cancer:

Women at age 20 should learn about the benefits and limitations of breast self-examination (BSE). The American Cancer Society considers performing BSE to be optional.
Women between the ages of 20 and 39 should have a clinical breast examination by a physician or other health care practitioner every 3 years.

The risk of breast cancer for you is very rare but not impossible.According to your history and physical examination the best diagnosis for your problem is FIBROADENOMA ,that is a benign process. For definite diagnosis you should done FNA[fine needle aspiration] and if it will be negative, you can sure that you don,t have breast cancer but you require close observation every 6 mounths by a breast surgeon.Ofcourse any changes in your disease characteristic will require immediate surgical visit.

I'll check it out for you...

Really, it is natural for one breast to be slightly larger than the other. You should really see a doctor, they will give you a better answer than a website. That being said, here is a website that discribes how to do a self exam. Best of luck to you.

I'm 25 woman, this is my husbands login but anyway to answer your question. I would start with your family doctor for a basic test. Now the fact that one is bigger is actually normal, sad, but true mine are the same. If you are sexually active you should take a pregnancy test. Milk glands would cause a lump as well, hope your not freaked out right now. But to ease your mind, why not go to your doctor that's why you have that insurance and it's their job. I hope all is well.

If you absolutely are positive that no family history is present, then maybe a Lymph node is swollen. They collect and filter out impurities in the system. Do get a checkup. Maybe a bruised area. But to feel at ease do get a checkup. Normal checkups don't usually start until age 45+, earlier if family history.

Go see a doctor, preferably a specialist now. The lump may not be cancerous at all but it is best examined by the specialist without delay.

since you are still young - what you're experiencing could be a hormonal fluxuation (as breasts tend to feel 'lumpy' during the period or with increased hormones). It's also normal to have one breast that is larger than the other.

however...since you have felt a lump, it's best to have it double checked by your OBGYN or doc, they can be certain it's not a cyst or tumor.
