Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition or Professional Edition does NOT come with Microsoft Office included: word, outlook, excel, publisher. It only comes with a 60-day trial and then you are over.

Microsoft Windows 2000 or 98 did have Microsoft Office 98 installed, thats why you didn't had to buy those programs.

Nice question :)

Windows xp is completely separate. Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook, Publisher and Access are called Microsoft Office.

No, these are purchased seperatly from Windows. And if someone installed the OS on a computer for you, then they put them on seperate from the Windows. They NEVER come bundled with a new one, Microsoft would Lose Money that way, and God forbid MS would include it, no way, not happening, Bill would not go for it....... :-) Now www.openoffice.org has a completely free suite of compatible programs to MS Office, and it is just as Good if not better....

I got Windows XP with my computer and it came with a 60 day free trail of anything Microsoft (word, excel, ect)... Kinda stupid and annoying, but the PC industry sucks and just wants money so I think they stopped having it come with
