Depends... I've read the average is around $2.50 to $3.50 an hour...

Having worked at various farms for labor throughout the country, the average wage for most workers - illegal or not- is about $9.00 an hour. Some pay cash wages which adds up to more than most people realize. Still others pay piece work like so much for a box or bin. For example, I picked apples for 27.00 a bin and they were large bins but I could still fill four of them in 8 hours. The days of illegals working for a couple bucks an hour are long gone. Most will work for minimum wage and with a wife and four kids helping, they can make really good money. The work is hard and physical and illegals have much better opportunities for other work here in the US; meatpacking, construction, manufacturing, etc.Thats why farmers are hurting for labor in the fields....its not because the illegals are not here, but because they prefer to do something else. Many, and know this to be a fact because I worked with them, prefer the free benefits accorded to them from having a child citizen born here.......medical, housing, food, and income.

they get $60 a day plus food drink and whatever. divide that up for a job usually less than 8 hours on average. If they pick crops it's 10 an hour to start.

They have to be paid minumin wage to start in California, and I heard on the news some of the Mexican landscapers are now demanding 15 an hour. so much for cheap labor.

Some make quite a bit. Agriculture says they make about $15 an hour picking vegetables (it is by the bucket, or whatever), and I understand construction pays more.

Does that really matter? I would have to say not very much, but when you add the welfare, food stamps and other government handouts, it's closer to $50 dollars an hour. Which the American tax payer pays.

wow, you sure got no where with this one, wouldn't it be nice if those who didn't know what they were talking about, didn't answer the question? common sense tell me it has to be below minimum wage, otherwise it would not benefit the employer to hire them, especially now that many state are enacting tougher laws

I don't know the average everywhere. But in my area its about $8.50/hour. Very well paid if you ask me.
