Hey, just a question.

What if the sport of pro cycling was as popular as Baseball here, which states would be ideal to host STAGE race (as big as Tour de France)? You can COMBINE states if you'd like!

Lets exclude Tour de California and Tour de Georgia, because we know they happened already.

Try to give reasons why you think a certain state would be an ideal host (i.e. terrain, weather, etc.)

Cheers!

If cycling were to become as popular as baseball....I would love to see a tour across the continental US. Now bear with me on the details.

The first 1800 miles would be from Tampa, FL then head north west towards Denver, CO.

On the way you go trough Birmingham, AL - cross through Tennessee and Kentucky - St. Louis - Topeka, Kansas- then to Denver, CO.

The last 1300 miles would be from Denver Co, to Seattle, WA.

On the way go through Cheyenne, Wyoming - Salt Lake City - Boise, Idaho - pass through Oregon - end in Seattle WA.

Of course this could be easily reversed based on when you want the Rockies to hit the riders.

I choose this route because it encompasses just about every aspect of the US, its terrain and climates. Also if this was as popular as baseball every American would want this great race to pass by their neck of the woods. This route would allow for the best opportunity of that happening.

And of course this would have the title of Tour of the US.

I like the tour de US Idea but I would be sure to include the two mountain sections a couple of stages run through the Rocky Mountains and a few stages run through the Allegany Mountains with flat stages before each section.

I think it would be fun to start in Seattle or Portland and work to the Rockies then go east towards the Allegany Mountains with flight steps in the middle there if biking across takes too long and ending this in DC doing loops around the monument areas.

In my view, an ideal tour would be Colorado and Montana with stages in the Rockies. It would be scenic, beautiful to watch, (an important element of the Tour's appeal in America), and a challenging three week ordeal.

Not tejas unless there is leaders jersey for dodging rednecks in pick ups throwing beer bottles at you.

You would have to combine the great north west area and then throw the into the heat of southwest.....
so tour de west states

Tour de Tejas would be a good idea. The tour would include the only cities that have stuff worth seeing; San Antonio, Austin, and Houston.
