Not all "pitbulls" are killers. It is in their nature to be aggressive with other dogs, NOT with humans. Alot of ignorant people believe the lies that pitbulls have locking jaws, or that they have a stronger bite than other dogs. This is simply not true. A myth. A fable propogated by those who fear pitbulls. Pitbulls were bred to fight other dogs, and any who showed signs of aggression toward humans were considered worthless and put down. Nowadays however there are many ignoramuses who breed pit bulls randomly with any other dog that looks scary and then beat and starve them to supposedly make them strong for fighting.
Pitbulls are the most eager-to-please dogs I've ever met. If the owner wants the dog to be vicious then the dog probably will be. If the owner loses thier temper with the dog, the dog will learn that it's acceptable to be violent.

Pitbulls are easy enough for any sadistic creep to turn mean though. They are extremely emotionally sensitive. People who own pitbulls and keep them tied in the back yard or leave them alone for more than 3 hours a day, 3 times a week, are abusing the dog. They respond the same way a 5 year old child would if you did that to a 5 year old child. If you tied a 5 year old child to a doghouse all his or her life they'd have emotional problems and wouldn't know how to interact with people either. If you went to work and left your 5 year old child locked in the house all day every day the child would start being aggressive and destructive too. Those of you who claim to know someone who's been hurt by a pitbull: I'd be willing to bet money that that dog was not put through any form of obedience classes, left home alone alot, hit repeatedly as punishment or by overaggressive children, or ignored alot. It's irresponsible owners who create bad dogs, not a predetermined aggression by breed.
If you think all pitbulls are predisposed to attacking people, you are prejudiced.
Do you think all african americans are predisposed to be in gangs and be involved in drive by shootings?
Do you think all white poeple are predisposed to be in the KKK?
Do you think all hispanics are predisposed to breaking into cars?
Do you think all women get PMS?
Do you think all men beat their wives?

Aggression is a learned behavior. I don't think all pits are killers, nor do I think all rotts are killers, or all German sheps are killers. It's unfortunate that news of pit attacks will make a lead story on the news, but what of the ones that are loyal, devoted family pets, there have been many pits that have saved people's lives. This story doesn't even warrant a one liner on the news. A seven year study compiled the total bites from 127 different breeds, the pit accounted for 1.89% of the those bites and ranked fourth........from the bottom. Labs and cocker spaniels are more likely to bite. I repeat, aggression is learned behavior.

I think they are predisposed to aggression. I think if they are not properly handled and if they are fed a high protein diet this makes it worse. Last May a pitbull in my town killed a 2 year old girl who was visiting it's owners with her parents. The child did nothing more than walk in the room and the dog attacked and would then not release the child's head from his mouth until the fire dept arrived and they sprayed it with an extinguisher to get it to back off so they could grab the baby but it was too late. I don't think this is a risk people should take if they have children and if people chose to have the dogs they should be fenced in securly and muzzled when walked.
A pitbull near my sister's home accidentally got out of it's yard and in front of my sister , ran up grabbed her neighbors cat , killed it and took it back to it's yard.

Pit bulls were bred for dog aggression and also have a high prey drive. Many of them are capable of killing other animals if not restrained or properly trained. A great place to learn more about pit bulls and the responsibilities involved with owning a pit bull is on the Bay Area Doglovers Responsible About Pitbulls (BAD RAP) website. Of course they are NOT all killers. They are terriers with a terrier mentality but with a lot of muscles (think jack russell on massive steroids). It is mostly in the training. Many people get them as a status symbol - to look "cool" or "be tough" and not for the dog - they think of them as "things". There are some that are poorly bred with mental issues but mostly it is in the training and conditioning. I work with a very intelligent lady (we work in the health care field so we are college graduates) who has one by the name of Madison. My friend is expecting her first baby in a little over a month. If I had ANY concerns at all, I would have already had some words with my friend but I have met Madison and I know my friend. Madison is well trained and well behaved and my friend will NEVER leave her child unattended with Madison or ANY dog until the child is much older. Like I said, it is not the breed but it is what the people wanting "things and symbols" is doing to a very wonderful breed.

No. I think the over breeding is the true killer. These are the most over bred breed in the world. I am against BSL's but there really has to be something done to stop the over breeding of Dogs in general. If that means stricter laws on breeding a dog then so be it. We have to do something and at this rate the Pit will be in the extinct list.

I think some pitbull dogs might be killers but only if you don't train them right, and some pitbulls are just born that way.

Dogs are pretty much a product of their environment. If they are mistreated or neglected, they will have some behavior problems, relative to their abuse. Pit Bulls are no different in that regard.
The only thing that makes a Pit Bull more dangerous is that he, like some other larger breeds, has a very strong and massive jaw that can do more damage if he bites.
PIts are sweet dogs when trained properly and loved.

I dont belive that one breed is a killer dog, It is all on the owner the trainer and the love you give to your dog. I have seen all sorts of bulldog breeds and some were some big babys and some were protective my old american pit was just vandicktive he never killed anything instead he would find dead things and roll in them and eat them just to get a breathmint
