Wash your mouth out with some warm salt water. Just swish it around and spit it out. Do this a couple of times today and tomorrow, if that doesn't make you feel better, call your dentist back and ask him for some advice.

You probably got some food stuck down in your gums... the salt water will actually numb your mouth a little bit and help clean it out.

Good Luck, Hope you feel better soon.

First of all, GROW UP. "Smacking" a hygienist who is trying to remove the deposits on your teeth due to your own poor oral hygiene is stupid. It's YOUR fault if she has to use a great deal of effort to clean your nasty mouth. If you have pain, ibuprofen (Motrin, Advil, etc) will help. Also, dissolve salt in hot (not boiling) water, and rinse your mouth frequently. That will help reduce discomfort and help prevent infection. To prevent future problems, try listening to what she tells you and brush and floss your teeth correctly every day, and you'll probably never have this problem again.
