My daughter has brown hair naturally and dyed it black and now wants to bleach out a few strands. What product should we use to remove the black and bleach out the rest of the color in the strands?

Here is the dying set up. She has shoulder length hair with bangs and wants the under carriage (I know she isnt a car but...lol) of her hair bleached out. And under her bangs. We just used Clariol Intense Bleach Blonding and it came out just like everyone said it would. The roots are an orange color and the rest of the strand is only lit brown. My daughter has VERY thick hair so I think it will be pretty tolerant to bleaching but I dont want to OD her hair. What is the next step i should take to get the hair bleach blond? And do you recommend a better/different bleach to use that is maybe more thorough?
Thanks!
Cindy

Eeek, I would go to a professional. I have heard of hair turning green by messing w/ chemicals at home. Also, they condition it well so that it doesn't overdry it.

Something else to think about--I once made my hair platinum blonde as a teen. It was very dark also. I used a toner and 40-volume (strongest) peroxide. You could do this. However, my hair turned out like chewing gum on the ends. I have heard of people's hair falling out in other cases.

Now, I go to a salon all the time. They do it right and I don't have to worry about ruining it.

Seek a professional stylist. I had that problem because my hair is naturally brown. Everyone that has brown hair has natural red tones. And when doing something dramatic like that will turn the strands orange. If you choose to do it yourself, you can use Clairol - Blonde and buy some Shimmer Lights from Sallys Beauty Store for the orange/ brassiness. After using the Shimmer Lights for a few days it will be normal.

I am a stylist, I do a lot of color. If someone comes in with black colored hair I will usually refuse to highlight their hair. Or I make them sign a releasse. The bleach will take a long time and you may have to reapply the bleach...many times to get the results you want. Most people end up with "frizzle frazzle" after they get it blonde. you will definitley have to tone the blonde. Good Luck..

Go to a color specialist at a salon. They will tell you what it will take. It will probably be orange on the first go, but will take another, if not more times to get it lighter.
Black dye is the hardest, if not the most impossible to change to another color. Most cut the hair.

There is this color remover called Color fix that you can order on line, but I would highly recommend that you go to a salon to have it done.

Take her to a professional! Spend a little money now to have it done right. If you DIY it you may wind up spending tons and tons of money to fix it if you scew it up.
