You must reach far enough down to stimulate the epigludus, which is the throw-up muscle. It's relatively high up in the throat, but naturally the distance would vary depending on the person.

Maybe u should try and get a toothbrush and try sticking it down your throat. Then u'll know. Bulimics use toothbrushes all the time.
