Sudafed or you could eat something hot and spicy. A hot compress across your face will also work.

"Breathing through my mouth"
Superbooks Answers:
Someone once solved that problem by putting a whole teaspoon of Guldens mustard --all theway back in their throat. They put it all the way back there and then swallowed. The result was amazing.
The person was breathing with no problem after that. And it lasted for hours. No medicine, no chemicals, just mustard.
I wouldn't suggest doing that unless you know for sure that you are not allergic to the mustard or allergic to anything inside the mustard. But if you've tasted and used that mustard without any allergic reactions it might just be the thing to try, one wholistic nature cure for bad breathing.
Always check with your doctor first before using any remedy to solve health problems.
Even if you were never allergic before to the mustard, it's always possible that you've developed an allergy to it and not known it so that when you place the mustard all the way back there , near your tonsils, you might or could have some kind of an allergic reaction.
Of course, that's all a disclaimer because I'm not a doctor and I'm not an allergist.
So protect yourself and don't do anything that might hurt yourself or hurt your health. Safety first!

I have really bad sinuses that gets infected sometimes and then I can't breathe and it triggers my asthma. I use to go to the asthma clinic often because of this and the doctor told me to use steam. You can run the hot water in your sink and lean over it or you can put boiling hot water in a big bowl and put your face over it with a towel thrown over your head and hanging down covering the sides of the bowl so that the steam does not escape and the steam will clear your stuffy nose. It works for me and I when I am finish, I also use Afrin, which is an over the counter nasal spray. I have not been to the doctor in a while because it really works. Hope you feel better soon.

Do you have a vaporizer? You need steam so use a vaporizer or get a kettle on the stove. Put about a tablespoon of Vic's vapor rub in hot water in either one and make some steam. suck on a halls cough drop works good too. You can also buy some over the counter meds for sinuses. Sinutab works good.
Oh and a nice hot soak in the tub with a few pinches of ginger in the water.

Boil some water about 2 cups should be good. No measurements required but just as a basis, any way put a glob of vapo rub and chamomile tea and mix it but just to melt the vapo rub put the finished product in to a bowl or a cup, put your nose and mouth into the bowl or cup, dont touch the water its hot, just so that your sinuses are targeted and breath deeply through your mouth and nose, do this for about 5 minutes it should start to break up. My mom always made me do it and it worked wonders.

Afrin moisturizing 12 hour spray will work almost immediately. It's not for long term use but it's great for a short fix. Start with 1 spray in each side. If you don't get relief after 15 mins, use another spray in each side.

You can buy saline mist to spray in your nose to clean it out and ease the swelling. Simply Saline works well. But, as someone who breathed through my mouth all winter long, my advice is to see a doctor. You very well may have a sinus infection, and all the over the counter medicine in the world won't help if you need antibiotics. Good luck!

Sit in a steamy shower with your head tilted back a bit for 10 - 15 minutes. It will dilate (open up) your blood vessels and the stuff plugging your nose will turn into liquid and drain normally. You can get habituated to pseudephedrine. That means if you take it a lot, you can get a reverse reaction, your body reacting as if going off it is a signal to get plugged up. You may have taken too much and need to back off.

I recommend using afrin with menthol, it really clears up any stuffy nose I usually have, but don't use it more than recommended because then it usually runs down my throat and gives me a sore throat! Also sudafed or nyquil works really well.

Breathing in some humidified air may help. You can do this by inhaling the steam from a hot shower or boil a pot of water, put a towel over your head and breath in the steam. This will loosen and thin up the mucus. Hope it helps.
